    Well done, Mr Plod

NZ Police CommCens Alert 10:00 18-07-2006 Auckland City

Location of incident: Auckland City and Manukau

Incident Type: Bad day to be a car thief in Auckland

Auckland police have had a frantic day apprehending car thieves today, with 10 offenders arrested in 90 minutes following pursuits on foot and by car, and assisted the whole time by the Police Eagle helicopter.

The action began at around 10am with a service station attendant calling 111 to say a car that had been filled up at a petrol station looked suspicious due its lack of an ignition barrel.

Police quickly established the car was stolen, and all units were alerted. The car was soon spotted in Glen Innes and three offenders were apprehended after being surrounded by police, with Eagle overseeing the pursuit from the air.

Next, checks on a car with a faulty wheel that failed to stop for police revealed that this too was stolen, and two offenders were arrested after abandoning the car in Onehunga and being pursued on foot by a police dog handler, again with Eagle guiding the pursuit.

On to Avondale, where a police officer spotted a stolen vehicle at a petrol station that had been alerted to all units earlier on. The offenders abandoned the vehicle and were soon arrested after being located a short distance from the scene.

Meanwhile in South Auckland, a stolen car was also spotted by police and after a 30 minute pursuit in a 100km speed zone, the three offenders were apprehended when the vehicle was spiked at Clevedon.

Police Northern Communications Shift Commander Inspector Gavin Macdonald said the arrests were a result of excellent police team work from the Northern Communications Centre right through to the frontline staff. "Its days like this when it feels good to be a police officer," Inspector Macdonald said.
Now, that's what we like to see. Let's now turn our attention to the magistracy , and hope they don't undo all that good work by wetting the bus ticket too much.

And well done the petrol station dude, too.

    What can one say?
Except, I wish I was on 16 today while all the cops were chasing thieves.

Using the eagle for stolen cars? What a waste of resources, haven't they got anything better to do?

Good stuff, that's what we like to hear. Some good PR for the boys in blue too.....

oh good gracious no - that'd be assault!

they're probably just misunderstood, and the product of a broken family, a society that has cast them to the wind like leaf litter on a windy day in June.

'course the more realistic option is to nab the little bastards and give them a good swift kick

    Cool

They will go to court and get a slap on the wrist with a small fine.
Which we know they wont pay it. So back to court for non payement of fines.
Sentence them to community work or PD, no show for that...then maybe back to court another slap on the wrist and maybe send them down for a short term.
End of fine. (go to jail and fines are wiped)

BUT in the meantime while this has been happening, the little twats have been out there stealing more cars.... and getting caught again and again.

    So it continues.

Oh and I bet they wont pay a cent back to the owners of the cars for damage done to the vehicle.

But the insurance company will be happy.

The car owners will be happy to get their cars back.

So well done to all the police for catching the crims.

Now if only the judges would impose stiffer sentences on these crims.
They have the power to it but dont.

    It's a lie. Wasn't in the newspaper.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Now that is the sort of police news I like to hear.

Painting dots on Dominos is easy - a trained monkey could do it.

Nah, MAF won't let trained monkeys into the country so they had to get me.

Seems they couldn't find a bright enough kiwi.
