Crappy lever and restricted licence test rant...

Okay, everyone that came here thinking it's about something to do with a lever at a restricted test.... not quite... Before you all go on about how pointless that sentence was and start correcting me on grammer/spelling mistakes, don't bother since I don't care at the moment (had about the worst day possible and I'm half drunk, hmmm did someone say MONDAY!)

Anyhow, so I went for a ride today, come back home to get changed for work so I'm manouvering the bike around the carport since I'm only going to be about 5 mins (usually I stick it straight into the garage which is much easier..) and... I drop it on the right from stand still. (stupid thing, I was turning right at very slow speed and didn't let the clutch out enough so it rolled to stop instead of accelerating.... so I dropped it on the right side since full lock to the right was not able to stop it and my legs weren't enough either.. hell did that make any sense???) anyhow, I'm thinking oh crap I got to pick it up... so I get it up and realise the bloody brake lever has broken clean off near the root! F*#@k F*#K F*#k went on for five minutes.. and apprently it's going to cost me 25 for a new one... oh well, it wasn't as bad as I thought and no other damage so it's all good. funny though, I've dropped fxr150 a few times on its side from standstill and never had any scratches or damage at all... perhaps because the zzr250 is heavier???

Anyhow, I haven't mentioned the restricted licence test at all... right I've got that booked on friday so the bloody lever better get to the shop by than.... damn it. (the guys said 2 days so it will probably be all good, though I'm missing out on valuable "practice not filtering throught traffic and riding like a complete maniac" time though....) I heard that they have just made the restricted test more tough???? Exactly what has changed? can anyone that's had their restricted within last month (or how longever it's been changed) share their experiences?

Do they always get you to do a U turn? if it's a really tight road, and I make a three point turn or get off and push, do you think they would fail me???

sorry to gloat, but having a ct110 (auto-clutch) is gonna be fun when i go for my restricted.. i can do a u-turn with both feet on pegs in 1 lane

hope you get your lever sorted out soon, and that your restricted test goes well

Ah dude, I can sympathise! On the day that I booked my restricted I went to the supermarket, came out and went to ride away BUT I had left my disc lock on (no im not blonde) so I drop the bike and break my clutch lever. Luckily it only broke off halfway and I was able to just duct tape it on. Also I didnt have to do a U-turn just had to ride around town for about 20 mins and then stop.

just do a quick search on restricted tests, its really easy

stay calm, go slow, indicate for ages, take a while at roundabouts & DON'T LOSE THE TESTER

right... I'm feeling a lot more sober now...

I've been thinking about using the 125cc scooter for the restricted since the U-turns will me MUCH easier but I haven't ridden it for like a couple of months and also, it's a bit tall, and I can't reverse on it. (I have to get off and push) Was anyone ever required to "park" as a part of the test? I heard they do that sometimes somewhere but I can't seem to find that anywhere on the threads here.... would they mind if I got off and pushed to park the scooter?

metric - yeah, I've already looked at a lot of the restricted threads around here including the one where you participated about a month and a half ago... - I was asking people for "any changes" that they've noticed since they made the restricted "tougher" which I thought happened within last month. Not that I'm resenting you for pointing me to the obvious answer to everyone that asks questions in this place, I have people asking questions about things that have previously been posted too, just pointing out that I was asking for "new" information that's all.

edit - I think they should have a place that lend people a street magic for restricted tests... that would be nice..... automatic, nice and low seats, light... just perfect.

I sat my restricted in June and didnt have to do a U-turn at all....

Someone on here got failed for doing that. But I understand they always pick a really wide road and it is very easy.
