    Close call

On the way home from work today, in the pissing rain, on autopilot after waving to the sidecar pilot who I wave to 2x daily(never waves back tho ) when two cages decide to crash into each other in front of the ute that I was following. I am thinking "fuckin dicks, should be looking where you are going" when I notice the ute in front of me has stopped, and I am gaining rapidly,, so I hit the picks and I think " I'm gonna stop, sweeeet", no such luck, at the last second, I ran over a white arrow, locked it up and slid straight into the back corner of the ute, so I haul the bike off the road and wait for the inevitable bolloking that you get for rear ending someone, the ute driver gets out, white as a sheet, and looks all around, even under the ute before he spots me standing by the footpath and comes running up saying ".. holy shit mate, that was totally my fault I shouldn't have braked so hard..." ect, so I sort of played it down "yeah, well shit happens sometimes" the ute was OK, it had a big wooden farmer deck on it, so we turn to the bike, couldn't find a scratch anywhere when I got home I found a ding in the headlight surround that may not have been there before, but thats it, all that happend was that I nearly shit myself, and I scared the crap out of the dude in the ute, the moral of the story is obvious Pay attention to the fucking road, dickhead

Hey dude. Your green bike? The photo's too blurry to be sure but it's not a Z400 is it? Looks so like the Z400 I had half a lifetime ago

Yea, ages I was going along the esplande here in traffic after work, looked out to sea to check the weather and rear ended a stopped car. fell to the right, bike landed on me.

Guy behind and a few others jump out and lift bike off me, guy infront finally realises - hops out looks at the rear of the car with me - no damage, i had hit the tow ball - he hops back in his car and drives away. only damage to the bike was a broken L plate (landed on my foot).

I remember thinking in mid fall "shit I dont have enough to pay for my excess".

Now im very carefull, bad luck with the white line though - good to hear your ok!

Yep its a green un, its only a z200 though, I rescued it from behind a shed, it was cute- like an orphaned kitten, a 400 would come in handy on the highway with a head wind, LOL

I've got a Z440 lined up but I am yet to get my hands on it, I'll have to bring it home after dark though, so her indoors doesn't see it!

Her:"OI, theres another bike it the shed"
Me :well I'll be buggered, they must be breeding"

Good luck with the bike breeding. Those Kawasakis were good bikes. Not flashy but solid and reliable. How many of today's bikes will still be going 25 odd years from now?

I had to laugh when I read this, sums me up perfectly! I often finding myself thinking about dinner or that arsewipe at work who cant even wipe his own arse without having to ask how it would be done! Another thing that I am working on atm is following distance, its good to give yourself a bit of space just in case something untoward happens!

that shit happens to me all the time, I get somwhere and think "what was I going here for?" or "how did I get here?"

My autopilot works fine, but my data recording and retreval system is quite unreliable

I think the calculation is the "more space between your bike and other arseholes= the lest chance of having someone screw up your day".

Sounds like you got lucky mate, and it is a good reminder that we all need to ride with senses alert. Was swerving an option for you is instance? I often plan for where to go if this kind of thing happens and braking space is suddenly at a premium. It pays to have options eh.

Yeah, I did swerve, thats why I only just kissed the rh corner of the ute rather than getting wedged under it, my major problem is that after getting back into road bikes, after so many years of dirt bikes, I tend to forget that I cant hold it on full throttle all the time, lest I get into trouble
