There is a light blue Series 1/2 RX-7 that used to always drive past. Loudest one of the lot. I have not heard it in recent weeks.

Yeah well, they're getting long in the tooth now and the worst offenders are the ones modded by cocks that think drilling a few holes in the exhaust makes them sound/perform better when in fact they're fucking the exhaust system and shortening the life of the engine. They're also the cocks who drive them in a stupid fashion, damaging the engine and risking wrecking the car.

Soon the only RX7s alive will be the ones in pristine factory stock or sensibly modded by skilled enthusiasts and well looked after, not driven by fuckwits.

The retards are to a degree "self limiting" and the number of wankers driving RX7s will diminish to nothing. Regrettably, all this means - since they're too stupid to realise it was their own fault the car blew up or crashed - is that they will go from an RX7 to whatever the latest small-cock mobile is and carry on making a nuisance.
    Motorbike Camping for the win!

Going from what Bykey Cop posted I read it as you only need certification if you fit an aftermarket exhaust, stock exhausts do not need certification. Have I read this right?

Ok I read it. My XV has a four stroke twin cylinder motor with two valves per cylinder so that makes 2500 rpm. At that speed I could take the pipes off and it would be under 100dB just about. I am surprised to see that there will be a testing dude in Nelson as both my bikes have after market exhausts on them.

yeh , but you'll need to make sure the clutch is pulled in during testing .... Dry clutch is gotta be worth another 10 db !.

Will be interesting for some of us Vtwin boys and girls with aftermarket pipes. A set of full Arrows or Termi's are around the 104 db mark, hopefully it doesn't produce that at 4,000 rpm. Mind you , only an issues if your pulled over .... whats the chances of that in this day and age ....

Hmmm, little green monster I'm on might be a tad over.
But I like the way it sets off car alarms...
