Sunday - Where Did You Ride Today [23 July]

Well with just over the two months on the bike it was time to pull up at the Caltex - Upper Hutt and thanks to the guys who came up and introduced themselves - great to say hello and put faces to the names here in the forums.

Enjoyed the ride up the Rimutakas and across to Martinborough and the Flying Fish cafe. I didn't mind just puttering along so to speak on my L-Plates and thanks to Ian on the 800 Intruder for keeping an eye out and waiting for me bringing up the rear.

Johnnie, thanks for the coffee on the way back at the Takas, mate you just got to do something about those electrical bits [ ], sorry couldn't resist.

Back home through Mangaroa and Whitemans Valley [140km for the day]

    Heads Up and Enjoy

Good to meet you BuckBuck, if only briefly.
Sure was a good day for it, despite the wind on the way back down the 'takas.

Gidday Drum, same here. Look foreward to spring time and a group ride - had a reasonable role up there today.

bout a 30k ride....from work...out towards whangahu, but turned off at foredell...windy as hell all along that road, as its at the top of a gully...lovely view! then back into town and along the river. little traffic, and kept to a decent speed of 80k...just what i needed.

Went for a tool around on Dad's sv1000 (great fun!) with my flatmate on his rg150 in tow.
He is just getting into bikes so we were just tinkering around.
    Did about 200ks of backroads

    Triple Ninja strike

3x Ninja's (of various power output) terrorised the eastern coast of Auckland, after deciding the SH22 janitor probably hadn't swept up sufficiently after last night's rain.

120 or so kms culminating in a good beach front latte.

1 Clan brother then tried to reduce his contribution to 3G network RF pollution...

I finally finished the wiring and fitting of the radar detector to the Vstrom, so I had to go and test it. Mid to late afternoon I headed through radar alley to Cromwell, then back to Alexandra. But not a single cop in sight anywhere. Whats going on? This is Revenue Central. Late sunday, and the only route between the ski fields and Dunedin, and not a single cop to test test the detector on.

Still it was a lovely afternoon for a ride.

Tried to go through the Makara gorge but failed - someone had had a head on (two cages) and various emergency services had to block the road. Went back, up and over the Heywards to Paekak then the straight way back home.

Nadroj and self went for a gallop up SH43 to the Kaieto Cafe (as featured in KiwRider). The weather cooperated. Some sand on the road as a result of a diesel spill last week, and some big damp patches provided added interest.

Cruised down to Morrinsville Saturday. Sunday headed off through the back roads to Rotoroa, from there round the the lakes Rotoiti to Rotoma . At Rotoma turned off and towards Matata. Matata for lunch.

Head ed off from Matata towards Tauranga, Turning back towards Rotorua, turning off and going around the back side of lake Rotoroa to the Pyes Par Rd, back down the Kiamais and back to Morrinsville for a quick Beer before trudging back up to auckland via the boreing main roads.
