New speed limits posted Riverhead - Coatesville Highway

The new speed limit of 80kph on the Riverhead - Coatesville Highway has been implemented with the new signs going up over the last two days.

My guess is that the powers that be will give people a week or so to get used to the new speed limits and then chuck a couple of boys in blue out there to remind people with some revenue gathering exercises.

It might pay to watch your speed through there over the next couple of weeks.

bah...it'll spread to the rest of the half decent roads in the region very soon...what will likely happen in the future has been stated before, more runners, less respect for the cops, etc....

That road was boring to me anyway, there are a lot more interesting roads in other parts of Southern Rodney, with far less traffic too.

Flamin tree huggers and greenies and whatever else.

Soon the whole country will be 70-80kmh and we may as well all get scooters now and be done with it.

Don't the dickheads that make these rules know, that the slower you go, the more bored you get, then you go to sleep and run some bugger off the road.

The quicker you move, the more alert you are, concentration is at a higher level and you get from A to B quicker which means less congestion.

Oh, well, have as much chance of not seeing speed limits come down as we have of getting a tax cut.

Anyone detect a note of cynicism here?

Reducing speed lowers the road toll. That's the governments easy fix. Yes it will be rolled out around the country.

But of course it's completely fucking stupid. There will still be a road toll greater than zero. Crashes involving speeds of 90kph on previously 100kph roads will be recorded with speed as the cause. And then the logical course of action based on previous events will be to lower it to 60kph. And so on....

These politicians and public servants are shit for brains morans.
