There's the road from Murupara to Waikaremoana and Wairoa if your looking for scenic metalled road. It might be nicer to stay at Waikaremoana than Wairoa. (Not that I've got nothing against Wairoa...)

What about the Gentle Annie? It's supposed to be tough at any time, could be ridiculous in winter. You would need to be absolutely self sufficient..

I'm going to need a map to figure out where that is exactly, but it sounds good. Just a thought, I don't have a rifle or gun licience anymore, will that be a problem going through Waikaremoana?

When are you looking at going?

14-18th of August. I told the boss I needed time out, never needed to before and he was kind enough to give me his blessings and filled out the leave application and approved it.
