Idle know

My 85 gpz1000rx (or zx1000A) idle changed when cold (low) and changes as the engine heats up (increases to the normal 1500). Is this normal?

... of course, warmer the engine the better the combustion. This has always happened on my bike and will probably be more noticable on a bike with more torque.

The thing is, it doesnt idle when cold, and the only way fo me to warm her up is to blip the throtle for ages....any tips?

Choke?

I found on my bike it was for ever stalling and I thought it was just taking ages to warm up but switching the lights off and it started idling ok. Then the battery died and now it idles much better as the battery voltage is higher = better spark=no stalling.

Same deal with my 125 - the battery is poxy.
I turn the lights off when it's warming up. Fine after that...

The battery on my bike is excellent, and the of coruce I've tried the choke (it works for 1 min then doesnt)....

Double happy: cold idling is the death of any engine. So as soon as it starts, put it in gear and ride off gently. Ease the choke off as soon as you can, keep the throttle gentle and revs moderate. That way you're putting enough pressure on the rings to keep them in contact with the cylinder walls and putting heat into the engine while it's getting oil and coolant the way it was designed to.

I did it!

What I was forgetting was my idle adjust! i just crank it right up when cold (so it idles at 1500) and when the bike warms up i just keep knocking it back so the rpm stays at 1500, takes about 5 min when the smoke stops then I go is this method good or bad?
