R1 question

OK I was thinking of doing the gear calcs and speeds for you here for the 2004 R1 but looks like they are all on this site http://www.aperaceparts.com/04%20YZFR1

In summary:

Theoretical Speed in Gears at Redline

6th 197 mph; 317 km/hr

5th 183 mph; 295 km/hr

4th 164 mph; 264 km/hr

3rd 142 mph; 229 km/hr

2nd 121 mph; 195 km/hr

1st 99 mph; 159 km/hr

One could summise that it should hit redline in 1st and probably more going on to the rev limiter. The overall ratio in first is something akin to my dirt bike in 5th at around 10:1.

I can vouch for 124kph on the '03 Gixxer thou in first, and that was before it hit the limiter. It was howling so bad I just had to change up. I'll give it berries soon, maybe Monday if the forecast is right, and let you know what it peaks at.

My gixxer 750 gets to 146kmh in 1st so I imagine the R1 figure is correct. Bikes are mainly over geared for emission testing these days. Lower revs at a given RPM and all that.

Jeez I love bikes.
