What proportion of bikers in New Zealand are KB'ers? Does anyone know how many of the bikers I see on the street read the forums here?

Ahh. A question to which there is no answer. Likely possibilities include:

Not to mention - ''what is wrong with my bike....?''
and
''this one here?''
and:
"what should my first bike be?"

If someone is better than me at Googling/Using-the-statsnz-page, I'm sure you could work it out.
Though it depends on how 'active' you want the members to be. What constitutes an active member? For that matter, what constitutes a motorcyclist? Must they ride every week at least? Or every month?
Damn, I'd hate to be a statistician. It's all so complicated.![]()
There's Life, the Universe and Everything, but I prefer pizza.
You've asked how many active KB'ers are there in the title of this thread but then asked what proportion of bikers are KB'ers and how many of the bikers you see on the streets read the forums?
That's kind of a mixed bag, but there are over 5,000 members signed up here, but I suspect quite a few aren't active bikers. Then how many active bikers are there in NZ. Off the top of my head registered bikes would be a few hundred thousand I'm guessing like 200,000. Now if KB has say 4,000 properly active members and there are 200,000 bikers assuming that is the number, then KB is about 2% i.e. not many.
If my numbers aren't quite right the proportion whichever way you cut it will still be SFA so we haven't got a huge penetration of the market yet.

Trev did some research on registered motorcycle numbers and the figure was around 45,000.Originally Posted by merv
About 5,000 people are registered on this site, though how many are active and the criteria you would use to define active are anyones guess.
However, many people here have more than one bike, so it would appear that perhaps 10% to 15% are represented on this site.
That said, there would be many more unregistered motorcyles and how many of them make up the 5000 people registered on KB is anyones guess.
you take the average number of bikes on the road, multiplied by the number of spanners in a sidchrome tool kit and subtract the average height of a candian beaver and that should give you the correct answer.
