yeh but once you have stepped on to a high performance 600 bike the only thing that is relevant is how to use the brakes and how to turn it... its a whole different ball park being on a big bike.Originally Posted by renegade master

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
LOL... You learn that the brakes are crap. You can't past people on the highway and the best of all is that you are stuck with the crap for at least a year till you can get your green card!!!Originally Posted by renegade master
I must say that it was worth dropping my 250 as lesson rather that your expensive dream bike that was full fairing!!!
18months or whatever it is, is a long time to be stuck on a GN, id go mental! hahaOriginally Posted by degrom

Say what you want about 250's being not that wonderful blah blah, however...i would hve my little 250 in the twisties over a big bike. I am pretty certain that a good rider on a 250 will give the boys on bigger bikes a fair challenge. A 400cc might be the perfect mix...what you boys reckon??
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
A fair challenge is about all though. I've ridden all the sport orientated 250s, and the modern 600s are no harder to hustle, providing you've got something other than little sticks for arms.
Besides which, twistys are the exception not the rule, and the 250s are teh ghey everywhere else in comparisonHaving said that, there will always be a home for a 96 Lucky Strike RGV or RS in my garage
/edit: Oh yeah, and the 88-90 CBR250s are horrible frekin arm chairs to ride that couldn't pull the skin off of a rice pudding
/edit: Arm chairs isn't fair or accurate, more like those little wooden chairs you had in primary school
I reckon an 05 or 06 R6 with fully setup ohlins front and back would shit all over you and then wipe its ass on your jacket, and probably be stopping in whitianga for lunch while you top up with fuel at coroOriginally Posted by Brett

On the one hand, you're describing a $20000 bike, so it's not really a fair comparison... on the other hand $20k isn't really that much, and a small price to pay for such performance.Originally Posted by gareth_d
I don't think you'd even need the full Ohlins setup either.
Performance Bike (I think) mag did a test a short while ago between a mixture of the likes of ZX10R, a 600, Buell, motard, and a 400cc bike. 400cc rated poorly. Even against the ZX10R. And the Buell. They ran them all through a number of different corners and also over a short distance.Originally Posted by Brett
Interesting to hear, do you have any idea why the 400cc were rated so badly? I personally wont waste the time on a 400, i will happily jump onto a 600cc(636 or GSXR).Originally Posted by onearmedbandit

(might have to do Kaiaua instead tho) I have been with motoracer before, and i am pretty sure that he would wipe me off the floor with his R6, but then it is an ex-race bike...nice thing it is too.

They did make mention of a slightly warped fron disc brake, but said it had no real bearing on the test. The point was that suspension and chassis technology had move on so far that the 400's no longer held the advantage they may have had in the early 90's. Even the thousands out handle them now.
