    HOWITZER!

    HAND GRENADES!

Or the poor bastard may not have had so much time to choose... "hold on mate - I'll just select a gun to shoot you with... hmm... ballistics of the 357 vs the 44 Mag... dunno. Weight of the gun, accuracy, overall stopping ability bringing into mind the range, and size of target...

Yep - that's the one for me.

Ok... now carry on - were you going to threaten me?"

    I think not.

Hey dude - what's trolling? And how long did you manage to hold a wheelie on a FXR150?

    Cheers

P.S. I know what moron means so I didn't ask.

P.P.S. (back on topic) why are the general public allowed guns anyway?

Trolling... Writing something inflammatory = "putting out bait to start an argument"

    Moron.. oh - ok

The general public are allowed hand guns because they have a number of uses in areas like pest control, and recreation.

    12 guage shotgun slug = 32.6 gm

    .44 revolver bullet = 13gm

    9mm Glock bullet = 7.2 gm

    Guess which I'd use?

PS In the days of the British Empire there were special 'Howdah Pistols', 12 guage, 4 barrels, I bet they hurt at both ends eh?

For once I would have to disagree with you Finn.
If the benefits were slashed tomorrow there'd be even more shitbags out there robbing/mugging/home invading the working masses, and selling more P to school kids. In fact there'd probably be a sudden flood of carjackings and other shit hardly heard of now.
We'd probably need every cent of the "savings" just to keep up with the increase in crime and all the new prisons we'd have to build to house the fuckers committing it.

I doubt there would be much of an increase in crime. The real crims look on welfare as an added bonus. It is a small a part of their total income. If removed they would not actively seek to replace it .What you *would* see is an increase in the suicide rate as the genuinely sick and disabled were reduced to the point that they had no hope any more. Not all beneficiaries are bludgers. I hope none of you ever become sick or disabled. New Zealand is not a kind country, there is a colassol cruelty in this country. You only have to read some of the posts on this site. And oddly, some of the toughest posters are the most merciful. And the bleeding hearts the cruelest.

The real crims you speak of would not need to change. I wasn't referring to organised crime, but to the opportunist, make a quick dollar in desperation type stuff committed by people without a lot of intelligence. Those types of crimes are the most violent and have the most effect on Joe Public. There are a lot out there on the bread line, often as a lifestyle choice, who wouldn't need much encouragement to seek out "other" forms of income if they suddenly had to.

Re your other point, there are distinct lines of demarcation between genuine sickness beneficiaries / ACC recipients, and dole bludgers. I don't think the intent of the original post was to lump every type of welfare payment together, and propose to cut the lot. Yes, there are people out there who genuinely deserve a helping hand, I would never dispute that.

Nope, too cunning for that now.

We were there that night! Always popped in for a feed on the way to Hot Water Beach for the weekends.

BTW they have suspects, just not enough evidence.
