Stock pipes on a v-twin... Never!!! Its like a Ferrari with a 3000rev limiter!!!

lol the Lambo Gallardo I pulled up next to yesterday, came up to my seat on the bike!, would be classed as one of the louder vehicles around but I doubt any cop would green sticker that as it sounded beatiful (real good) compared to the evo 4 2 cars back which was jsut as loud.

if he tested it indoors, that is a non-compliant test.. has to be tested outdoors with no reflecting surfaces..

was tested outside in a parking lot beside the testing station.

Not a valid test - this is NOT the new exhaust sound test rules being applied,they are NOT authorised to do this! You will only need to have your exhaust tested with a Db meter if directed to by the Police or an AVIC (WoF testing station) There are only 9 approved meters in the country,in a dedicated test centre...is this what they are,or are they just a WoF testing station?

can anyone tell me what the law is for new bikes and cars with stock pipes? some of those HD's are louder with stock pipes than those boy racer cars, yet they get away with it. my car failed, the guy was a prick( i think he get off on it) he said my system wasnt stock and it was too loud, bullshit it is!
there is no one rule, different story at every testing station!

yeah but will this include new vehicles? are you telling me a new HD has maximum of 100dBA? or are we going to see them modified at the dealer?
didnt we have some rule change a few years ago and a bunch of new cars failed? ford xr8's and so on.?

he said they've failed a few cars that have come in with green stickers put on them.
Excuse my ignorance as im not sure what that means but is that what the cops put on a car if they think its not up to warrant standard?
he also tested my bike at a drive by distance and i think he was about 7M away from me and when i went passed at about 50kph it was inbetween 97-98 decibels.
The tester he had wasn't very big.
the cops will have them soon enough i reckon it was just in a case and folded out with tripod legs on it.

He also said people were getting gauze mesh and putting alot of that over the muffler and putting a hose clip on it which lowered the sound by alot and helped them pass.
then they take it off later.

Why does the test not apply to in-service Warrant of Fitness inspections?
The test is being rolled out in two stages. The first stage allows the test to be implemented through the existing legal requirements of the Traffic Regulations Act 1976. The second stage is to amend the Vehicle Equipment Rule so that the test can be brought within the WoF/CoF vehicle inspection regime.

Funny that, the original 1976 Traffic Regulations Act already had an objective sound test in it, with all the different levels laid out for different vehicle types laid out and the testing procedure also outline in accordance with international standards.


BUT good old NZ dropped that with the boy racer act or whatever it was called, then relised they had fucked up, and are now introducing a law written by amatuer god knows what instead of following international standards. Bunch of fuckin muppets if you ask me!

i love the sound of my TLs but its started to become to damn loud...pulled into a country gas station the other day and the bloke says to me "its a wonder your not deaf"....i said "pardon" anyway he was right so am repacking the cans on monday.
