Hi,
I need a new helmet visor and I think those black tinted ones look awesome, like Darth Vader or something. But are they practical on the road? What are they like at night?
Hi,

I have one because I dont like the restricted vision that I get when wearing sun glasses...
However at night they are not good at all and you really have to ride with them up if you don't have ur clear vsor with you...
With it down at night I can see cars with their lights on fine but if someone left their lights off or a little girly ran across the road infront of me I don't think I would see them...
hi, i'm tempted to be sarcastic and ask .. what'dya really think?? and you've answered your own question...or do a search... but i won't.
practical in the day, useless after dusk![]()
:slap:
I use mine all the time unless it's raining.
Night time is sweet around town, the streetlights give you enough light to go by, but if you're riding out in the country or anything then you'll either have to flip it up or get a clear visor to swap.

You can get the light sensitive ones, darken up in sunlight, but lighten up at dark.
Really? ya learn something everyday around here. Thanks.Originally Posted by Patrick
It is just a stick on insert to your inner visor, $29.95 (or $39.95?) at most bike shops. Use it once, stick it in, leave it in... mine is OK, could be a little darker at daylight tho. You might be able to get darker? Dunno if you can get the visor itself which is light reactive?Originally Posted by fizzafulla
Nah man, but I've got one of those handy things on the front of my bike that illuminates my path.Originally Posted by boomer
Havn't hit anyone or anything riding at night with a tinted visor, so therefore it's 100% weasel approved.
I have got a "Hyperoptiks" fog city insert in my helmet. No longer available in NZ for some reason. The last one I got was from the UK. They used to retail for approx $100.00 here, and apparently were too dear, so Whites dont bring them in anymore. I reckon they are WORTH $100.00, you got what you paid for. They give excellent night performance, and turn cobalt blue in sunlight. Next time I need one, I suppose I'll just have to get one out of Pomgolia, unless White's decide to bring them in again??Originally Posted by Patrick
Fine during the day, but out in the country on some of the darker twistier roads...the can be havoc around dusk time...i know. I pretty much always have my tinted visor in, when it is too dark...ride with it up.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
OMG, that sounds like exactly what I need!!Originally Posted by Pussy
Is there anyone out there who wants one of these too, we could order a few and save on postage!
Anyone???
I see you can order them through a place called Modern World, website for $35US, then postage on that. SWEET!

Using a tinted visor in the day time can also be a problem, depending on where you are riding. With twisty country roads, a lot of dappled light, and a tinted visor, the wet patches can be hidden to your eyes.
At dusk, patches in tar, where the seal has lifted, from use, can also be hidden.... until you're riding over them![]()
At night... well.... its just much darker, init? This isn't recommended, but in the city, you can ride with a tinted visor, and I do. I do because I find the clear much to bright during the day, can't be stuffed carrying another visor, and I know the risks.
I have done the tinted visor at night, in the country, through no choice of my own, and it was quite.... interesting. Almost pitch black.

Impossible to see at night unless you have night vision. Also, some cops get uppity and give you tickets for them.

And how can a man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
