Very interesting,My wife and I make around a third of our income on Trade me.Their attitude to scams does not really surprise me.We've had our own issues with the management and know what this group is on about.
That being said it is up to the traders to be aware of "Shit that happens"
Hey some people still get taken by Nigerian investment scams.

Yeah I use it a bit. Just bought a pair of Sidi bike boots- great trade!

Sad to read of TradeMe's attitude, or lack of it, towards the scammers. :sneaky2: It has always been "buyer beware", but as the site grows, which it has over the past 6 months, surely management will be forced to take some action?

As far as I am concerned, if you get scammed off trademe you don't deserve to have the money in the first place. You would have to be pretty thick to get ripped off on trademe or ebay, let alone some stupid nigerian scheme, lol.

I had no idea that sort of stuff was going on - thanks for the heads up.I haven't been ripped off on TradeMe,but have bought a couple of items I haven't been too happy about,my fault for not asking the right questions and doing more reshearch, the same for the seller - they didn't know enough about what they were selling.

Seems to me that the scammers must pay Trademe 50c a pop for the scam ad's, So Trademe's happy as long as they are getting paid. There auctions are free till sale of course but alot are paid ad's.

I have at the moment someone from Nigeria wanting to buy 20 items from my web site. $1500 - $20 000 worth! none of which is profit for me, as their not my items. I've told them they will have to pay in advance. They say they will by Visa. But still,,, I'm not sure if I should go to all the trouble of getting these items together (not a easy job), shorting out freight cost, etc, etc.
When it's proparly just a scam away.

disagree with ya k14, there must be a level of trust on all of these trading sites- anyone of us could get suckered out of our money by scumbag crims who abuse this trust.

Ive sold a few things on trademe now and it would have been easy for me to take the money and run... but i'm an honest businessman!

Trade Me -- Your complaint about auction number <reference_id/>12209652

    Dear Simon,

Thanks for reporting the auction for: SUZUKI HAYABUSA 2003

The Trade Me Customer Support Team have reviewed the listing and has deemed that it is in breach of our terms and conditions. As a result the auction has been removed from the site.

Thank you for bringing this auction to our attention and making Trade Me a better place to buy and sell.

    Happy trading,

The Trade Me Customer Support Team
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Have nothing to do with them.
I know a guy out my way that was contacted by a group from Nigeria about buying his product. He flew over there and they set up some deal involving thosands of dollars. He atended a court complete with judge, lawyers, ect, ect, and came away thinking he had a legit deal going on.
Long story short,he lost $100,000 and has taken the last three years to recover from it.These people consider stealing from whites as a legit bisiness
practice and their Gov't is into it with them.

I have bought a few bike bits off trademe without any problems,if it even looks slightly suspect I just don't bother, there's always another deal around the corner.

Feedback is a pretty good indicator of how reliable the trader will be.
