More airflow going in + bigger carb jets + bigger exhaust flow = MORE POWER

For a quick fix, try and put new spark plugs in first. Depends on last owners, the plugs are probably overdue. New sparks and you will feel the difference.

If you want more power, you'll be pushing shit uphill with a 250 fourstroke.
More compression, bigger carbs, free flowing exhaust, possibly head porting......lots of work for bugger all power increase. You might get 3-5hp extra but end up spending a hundred hours on it!
Or if you don't know what you're doing you could lose 10-15hp by getting it wrong.
For basic home maintenance and tuneups i.e. balancing carbs, checking shim gaps, changing oil etc, then you don't need many tools. Just get a manual.
For tuning on a 250, get a two stroke. Lots of well documented areas to play with, and pretty easy to get more power albeit at the expense of reliability.

Don't forget the easiest way to get more from a 250 - lose weight!
Not implying anything here, but every kilo you can take off the bike (or yourself) amounts to free power. Most bikes can lose a little bit of weight without risking safety or comfort. Or you could go all out on things like bar-end/footpeg weights etc.
The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight underpants.

Pah, what he needs is a Sukuki 2 stroke kit. I'll come help you install it. I have a big hammer.

Any ideas on what to look for? When I first got the bike I decided to change the plugs so they are all brand new. Oh yea, I dont wanna go to 2 stroke as they sound like crap.

You obviously haven't heard a decent one at full noise then with full race pipes, dryclutch, open airbox etc.
I wouldn't bother trying to get more power, just put a better pipe on it and leave it at that. You'll end up losing some of your bottom end if you mess around to much, and it'll make it a pain to ride.

Exactly, the cost to do mods could get you a 600cc+, which will have better suspension, chassis, brakes, bigger wheels/tires to get the power down properly......list goes on.
