    Tunnel fun

Out and about on the bike this morning I was heading against the flow of all those happy happy communters through the Mt Vic tunnel. And the road was perfectly clear ahead of me. Now as a public service and to lift the moral of my fellow man I felt the urge to give them a soul lifting wheelie. Now Im not saying the I did that, but does anyone know if they have CCTV cameras in the tunnel???

Its just become a much more interesting place to travel through, its not like the cop I saw in the tunnel at the same time would have been able to get my rego or do a U turn to pursuit.....that is if I was doing anything wrong....

Pretty sure they have CCTV in there, traffic monitoring and saftey... whether they are high def enough to pick up a plate is another matter altogether...

The Mt Vic tunnel is a funny old place, what with all that beeping and now wheelies! (or not, as the case may be.) Rockin!
Much more fun than the Terrace tunnel.

My understanding is the cameras point at the roads in Wellington are not taped. Privacy Act you see.

Vic Tunnel not good place to do stuff like that though. Police frequent it. Mr plod stands at one end with a laser gun, and half a dozen wait at the other end.

Might I suggest Northland tunnel instead?

Haha, surely it would have been rude not to?!

Unfortunately, wheelying on demand is one of the many skills that I've failed to master. Tunnels are the business though eh?

Last year, there were six of us on GSXRs enjoying a holiday in Spain when we happened to find a tunnel that went on and on and on. We set off behaving ourselves, but the sound of the bikes soon intoxicated our senses and we found ourselves cruising at around 110mph, whereupon my mate Tommy came past on his rear wheel at I'd guess about 140mph (smart arsed bastard - I swear his front if filled with helium)

We were about a mile in to the tunnel when objects on the tunnels walls flashed us in the face every hundred yards or so. Realizing that they were cameras we slowed, looked at each other in the knowledge that we were in a foreign country and that the front facing cameras couldn't get our plates anyway, so obviously the antics started up again...

What is it about tunnels on bikes?

Can you guys get prosecuted for such antics via CCTV camera footage then? I've only ever heard of it happen once in the UK thank God

Not for traffic offenses, murder might be a different story though.
Dunno about welly, but in Auckland, the camera control is seperate from the police. They have an ask me no questions I tell you no lies policy too, or so I've been told.

I used to have an old moto guzzi with open lafranconi pipes on it, apart from setting off car and house alarms in narrow streets, I would love to hit the kill switch in tunnels and fire it up on the fly and listen to the 'sonic boom' of a bloody loud backfire and the look of fear on cagers faces!

Ah fuel injection has kinda put pay to all that sorta thing

I love the way the noise of my bike echoes through that tunnel! Sometimes I'll drop a bit back from the car in front of me drop it down to second and then give it the gas, boy does it scream Also my airhorns sound great through there as well.

Just watch for those hidden spped humps. Hit one on a BMX years back and sent me flying over the bars. It was about midnight though. Oh yeah, plenty of beer was also involved.

Can somone please explain to me how one would go about getting your carb'd bike to back fire? Someone once told me in a car if you switch it off then pump the gas then turn it back on.... but ive never driven a carb'd car before and tried to do this on my bike to no success......
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot
