    Fireblade

Just bought a 2002 CBR954RR on Trademe, for $10,500, with 18000 km on the clock. It came with crash bungs and a Datatool alarm/immobiliser. I flew up to Auckland, bought it and rode it home. I had a Firestorm which I have just this week sold. I have to say that the 954 must be the lightest bike I have ever ridden apart from a cb175!! My CBX550F2 was 220 kg; the CBR600F2 was 185 kg; the 2001 R1 was 177 kg, the blade is 168 kg and it feels it too. I have a double bubble screen the way and have ordered a fender eliminator from www.evotech-performance.com for $120 delivered. It uses the existing indicators and number plate light and looks really good.

Damn straight it was!!! That's the other thing, not one, repeat, not one ache or pain the entire trip. "Can this be right?" I thought....

I bought an R1 in Hawera about 2 years ago and by the time I got to Palmerston North en route to the mainland, I was thinking "hmmm, oh well I'm sure it will ride up with wear Mr Humphries" but alas, severe back pain, a couple of rear wheel spin ups and a head shake or three and it was time to say goodbye.

you made the right choice alright.

I had a GSX-R 750 as well and I needed physio every time I was on it for more than an hour, Mind you the 1000RR is nowhere near as comfy as my old CBR900RR.

that's because honda riders aren't used to the acceleration and resulting forces on their bodies

The 954 Blade which was released only in 92 & 93 was/is the lightest one ever made, however there are some that still debate that the reported 168kg dry weight is entirely accurate! Lol i've been angrily snapped at by an '04 ZX-10R owner who wouldn't believe that my bike was lighter than his 170kg machine, yet 168 is the weight in the owners manual!

I luv the cosmetics of this model Blade better than all the rest too, i've added a damper to the steering which has eliminated the high speed headshake i was getting over bumps, and a Micron cannister which has improved the sound and feel of the bike. There is plenty of power in the beast for a roadbike so I havn't felt the need to speed it up any more, they are made so well and I thoroughly enjoy mine along with dozens of other 954 owners i've chatted with. Here's to years of enjoyment to come!
