Oh no, not another Hutt boy!
Welcome aboard the site. Sounds like you are on the right track with regards to bike and learning. TSS are worth a visit if you are looking for gear, tho all the shops will give you a deal if you get the right salesperson - shop around.
See you on a ride sometime.

On reflection this is probably what I should have got as a 250, but didn't. Expensive though....

Welcome! I'd personally go for something a bit older to start off with - I wrote off my first road bike within 2 months would have been gutted if I'd spent a load of dosh on it. It also takes a little while to learn the little things like how steep an angle/soft ground you can park on before it will fall off it's stand and smash the fairings etc

Cheers for the birthday wishes, looks like ill be heading to TSS for a look then once ive got my license.

And Skelstar yeah it does look like a mufti cop car, which is good on the open road - cages in front see me in rear mirror and slow down - maybe i should send an invoice to the police for doing their job LOL.

again thanks for the welcome - i feel right at home allready

Gidday Bull, hey there congrats on your 28th today.

Shop around, and look at your immediate, medium and longterm needs and desires for a motorcycle.

Seriously, talk to a few guys on here about naked verses flared bikes for a starter bike, and also if seek some good feedback from them about the different bike manufacturers bikes in the 250 cc range.

Remember the whole graduated licence process will take some time, and in particular where and how you will want to gain your experience as a Learner can be crucial, particularly in your approach. Stepping out of a cage and onto two wheels and doing the daily work commute - look at it very carefully. The Roadsafe BHS is of course a must for your Learners and also as mentioned seek out a mentor from this site when you embark on your two wheeled journey.

Thanks for your comments in your opening thread, much appreciated and look forward to following your progress.

    Heads Up and Enjoy

Heya Buckbuck, cheers for the welcome and you deserve every bit of praise you get. Im definitely not going to be commuting to work on 2 wheels till at least February - got to drop my youngest off to kohanga each morning. But come Feb next year hell be at school and i hopefully would have done a fair bit of learning - and be almost due for restricted license. My training ground will be the back roads of Upper Hutt least till im confident to take on a bit more traffic. Ive got to admit its the styling of the Hyo that has me hooked and quite a few good comments from around the world in forums etc, seems the biggest negatives are people just poking fun at the new bike on the block

Dont buy a flared bike...you'll be out there riding thinking you are so cool, but your kids will hate you and will be dying inside with embarrasment.

Welcome to this site of self-opinonated, narrow-minded, ranting and biased bike-crashing bunch of mental retards.

Listen to their advice, some of it is fact and personal experience, the rest is shit, your job is to figure out which is which.

    Enjoy your riding.
