    Blah Jeremy Clarkson to claim Jensen Button's 1st F1 win??

    Now heres something a bit tinny.

    On the latest episode of Top Gear, Jeremy got a letter from a "Mr Button" who lives in Monaco, complaining that his current car is quite unreliable and he never seems to finish a race, so he wants to come on Top Gear and have a go in the reasonably priced car to prove that it's not just him.

    So Jensen comes on and they have a bit of a banter about why he's never won in 135 starts etc and he throws in a good lap (but doesnt manage to beat Nigel Mansell), and then what do you know?? Next race, he wins!!!

    Wonder if we'll see Villneuve on next week?

    Nice one, just downloading that episode. Clarksons a twat, but the show can be funny. I prefer fifth gear for actual responsible car journalism, and Tiff/Vicki/Jason can drive!
    I wish they had a good bike show along the same lines......

    Clarkson may be a twat but he`s a very rich twat.He writes an appalling newspaper column which has spawned a couple of best-selling books,one of his is currently top of the sales lists at the moment.Thing is he could well be playing to the crowd,it`s his opinionated bollocks that gets attention and has much of "Middle England" nodding their heads over their cornflakes in the morning.His grandstanding on a car show that should in reality have people muttering about mid-life crises and soft wankers who never grew up seems to impress a vast audience.He`s actually very clever,far from being controversial he spouts the kind of stuff in his column a bit more stridently than the majority in this country would but he`s savvy enough pick his subjects carefully and not to stray over the line into controversy,leaves that to the real journos.Could well all be an act,something like "The Rock",the macho meat-head wrestler and action film actor who in reality is a very intelligent and compassionate guy who`s very eloquent and well-spoken,I suspect "Clarkson" is an act,he`s found a persona the public like,or loath,either way he`s making a lot of money out of it.There are rumours that the Conservative party want him to stand for Lord Mayor Of London,of course he wont but it all adds to his image.
    As for the equivelant bike show,Top Gear did used to run bike features occaissionally with Steve Berry doing the riding,Berry`s basically a biking Clarkson with a Northern accent,there are a couple of bike shows on the cable channels and it has been tried here but never really taken off.I think the problem ,here at least, is that if anyone showed bikers riding around in the same way as the Top Gear dorks drive cars the press would once again pile in with the "all bikers are lunatics" stuff and having lived through times when a total bike ban was being seriously discussed I`d rather stick with the dull but worthy stuff that appears on cable now and again.

    Yeah it's sad. Not that the motorbike companies are making powerful bikes. But the fact that people think that supplying powerful bikes is a bad thing. I personally think it's a great thing. It should be up to the individual to decide whether or not they are willing to take the risk of riding a powerful motorbike. Also remember, it's not the motorbike that kills the rider. It's usually the rider that kills the motorbike.
