This is roughly where I'm heading with the plastics,. These are off a YZ250 around the 2000 mark, or so I was told, but they are brand spanking new, and I got all 3 for 30 bux, so I was stoooooked.

I will be getting the tank repainted in the same colour, as I will always be putting white replacement plastics on it.

Thanks guys, I am still on the hunt for a top end. If anyone knows of a cheap GN/DR top end, I am still needing. I bought a spare engine for 75 bux, but the top end was shagged.

    Looking good as always Kro.

Takes guts to go with white panels. I know for the few pieces on my bike that it's pretty much impossible to keep them clean and they show up every mark.

Did you ever consider something like a gunmetal grey (like the image in your sig). Was really hoping you were going to do some plastics painting so I could watch and learn.

Thanks Barty, I messaged this guy, and he reckons it was from a good runner, so I may end up getting the top end from the States, who would have guessed eh?.

I've been really happy with all the bits of gotten from teh states of ebay. So far I've gotten

    cyclinder inculding power valve
    swingarm
    linkages
FMF Fat boy expansion chamber and muffler
    seat holder thingies
    complete clutch

and all of that cost me around $800 nzd and all in really good condition.

Now I just got to find me some radiators, well just a left side one.

Sorry, Project DR has stalled until I can raise more funds for the old girl, and find a cylinder head. I'll ressurect the thread once that happens. I just had to shell out "bike" money on emergency plane tickets for my family, so that's kinda forked things up for me in the mean time. I promise I will finish this, the simple fact of the matter is that I have to, it's my only damn bike.

Do you think you'll have it finished by the time of the Maitai rally (4/11)? I wouldn't mind seeing the finished result after following the project.

I'd love to have it finished by then, but I cannot make any promises sorry Q.
I'll keep in touch though, you could at least drop round for a coffee on your way through, and see wher it's up to. I would love to have it finished in the next couple of weeks, but I think that's stretching it.

Should be getting the seat re-covered Monday, I think I'll get it done in plain black, but if they have a nice dark blue, I might consider it. Once I get that done, I will be able to get the plastics mounted properly.

Tank still needs painting, might be getting that done end of the week (ish).

I took my brothers KLX up into the forest today, had a great ride, but I was shattered after just 3 hours in the saddle, when we normally stay up there for about twice that.
