I wasted my thousandth post in the online trading section, but having said that, I nice chap called Turtle may have found me the engine bits I need.

I will have a couple of pics of the newly recovered seat hopefully this afternoon, depending on whether my upholsterer lets me down.

I have found a DR 250 motor on trademe, that I have a good chance of winning, and it's in Taupo, which is a bonus, as my company has a branch in Taupo. Either way, I have a good chance of landing the bits i need to make Project DR a done deal.

Recovered seat, and attached rear guard, with sidecovers just tacked on roughly where I think they should go.

I'm watching a complete running motor on tardMe, and am hoping to win that auction, as it will fast -track the finishing of the bike then.

Repainted and repaired airbox. The airbox was heavily "modified" by previous owner, and had 3 extra air inlets, which all had various hoses coming out of them. I have cut this down to the original, and one extra, which I could not plug successfully, due to inaccesability of the hole on the inside of the airbox.
I used some of the offcuts off the modified rear guard to melt in place with a soldering iron, to patch the extra holes, and make the airbox alot more water resistant than it was.

The airbox side cover needed repairing, which was basically soldering iron style plastic "welding" again.

Obviously that last pic is the cover that goes on the left had side, over the front sprocket, which traps enough clay to make a pottery vase with, but it looks pretty , so it's going back on the bike.

2 mins ago, I won an auction for a complete DR250 motor, that is a runner, with an exhaust system and carb, for 100 bux, there is hope for the completion of Project DR yet. I will keep you posted.

Turtle, I will be in touch about the bike you told me about, I will work out the finances, and let you know.

Haha, the funny thing is, the guy who I went into a bidding war with, is a guy I have dealt with on trademe before, and is a real good sort, and seems to have quite a collection of running DR's, and he only wanted the CDI out of it, and has offered to buy it off me already, so that's reduced the cost of the motor dramatically already. I won it for $106.00, and he's giving me $50.00 for the CDI/Ignition system, so it's one cheap motor, and it has an exhaust system and carby too.... I can't lose.

    Exellent work kro.

You're an inspiration to those of us with minimal bike budgets.

Hehe, even if the DR isn't finished, I might be able to go over the Maungatapu with you on one of my brothers bikes, I'll pm you my contact details, so you can at least see the mighty DR on your way thru if it's not fully back to together.

Turtle, is he still selling that DR we spoke about, or is he going to try get it going again?. I have another engine here, with good sidecovers on it that I might be convinced to sell.
