Lookin' good - it is going to be a shame to get it all dirty after all that painting an polishing. Are you going to the Nelson rally in November? I'm curious to see it in the flesh.
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
If it lasts that long, yes I will have a serious look at going, or if I am unable to make it, I can arrange a private viewing.

Question for you Kro (and those of you who have been following this thread).
We all know you've polished the beejeebus out of that baby. But have you done anything in order to minimise the effort to maintain the look? Is it clearcoated, or do you have a plan as to maintainence?
If not, what are the options? As one who is following this closely with the plan of doing something similar with my baby. But as we're planning on getting these things dirty, the ability to maintain the look is important.

My experience with autosol is that it does also coat the metal with a protective coating, and although it is not a hard wearing coating, a small amount of maintenance will bring the shine back with minimal effort. I actually tried to avoid clear coating major parts like forks and swingarm after polishing, because if you get a patch of wear thru the clear coat, the alloy beneath will start oxidising, while the rest looks mint, and to rememdy that means a full strip down before even thinking about buffing it up again.
I have heard of some people adding silicone spray to the finish, but I think more to give a shine, and make cleaning easier after rides, as stops dirt sticking to alot of surfaces.

i spray silicone on mine depending on where we are riding dose help with cleaning not so much on long muddy rides though get worn off dran quick
(make bike look wicked for 1st 5 - 10 min) i write it of thrugh work so not bothered by cost of it
Going shopping for new levers tomorrow, and to pick up my new front brake cable. Will post pics of the finished handlebar assembly tomorrow too. I purchased new progrip 793 handgrips off tardme, 18 bux, and they are grey and blue, like the bike, so they should arrive next week.

I finally got the wheels on the old girl, and the sidestand, and a few other bits.
More pics tomorrow.

Now you just need some new tyres...... lol
I have some, Finn gave me a new 21' front, and I found a cheapo 17 ' rear brand new, for 65, so I'm gonna splash out and get it. I found out my existing rear is really quite too wide for the bike, and although will give me a good amount of grip, it will be robbing me of a good amount of power too.

Thats amazing Kro!!!
I must do this to my old battered KDX one day!!!!!!
I've only just noticed this thread today. I'm surprised I never saw this thread before. I've read it from the start and it's been great. I'd love to do something like this once I get a suitable bike (which may be soon). Project: Black Hole
If KR aren't interested (but I'm sure they would be), VMX will certainly be interested
Thats Coyote. I have my eye on some new plastics, I was kinda hoping to go white, I will probably be getting the tank resprayed white (original colour), and the rest of the colours on the bike would suit white more than yellow which it had originally.
I am still going to do a collage of the project, along with all materials used, and methods used to do it with, I won't have that complete for some time though.
On a different note, I am not posting again until tomorrow, because then my post count will match the day, and we all know what day that is....... CONSPIRACY.. !!!!!!
