230kph? Didnt they say on the news a while back that the biggest speeder was 180kph? It got all over the news etc?

Ah yes 'BIKE".. Wonderful magazine (I lurv OGRI) but full of typical editorial hyperexcitement.. and possibly slightly prone to the odd exaggeration in the finest English road testing tradition...

1954 - Some slight vibration was experienced (ie the engine exploded)

1967 - A cruising speed of 70mph was easily attained (as long as you were cruising directly to the workshop for a full rebuild)

1975 - Some intitial delay was experienced while braking in the wet (I'm writing this from my hospital bed)

1986 - Smooth power was a relevation (the chassis scared me shitless)

1995 - This is a huge step forwards in performance (the bike didn't blow up and I'm still in one piece_

2005 - Our tester saw 300kph at one stage (he was asleep at the time but can remember it vividly)

Saw a mag (can't remember the title) about 18 months ago when I was in the States and an article in there rated the Buller Gorge in the top five biking roads in the world and made special mention of the South Island. BTW the SI was voted as the 2nd best holiday attraction after the Grand Canyon in 2004 by a big international survey. We're lucky alright...I've always said it
