I buy hundreds of used car parts per year - there is no warranty on electronic components.I'm a profesional and I accept this.I also wouldn't sell an electronic conponent and warranty it.

Surely the consumer guarantees act still applies, otherwise what's to stop me selling my PGM on to another hapless victim?

The PGM never worked, the mechanics inspected the unit when I gave it to them, and found it to be burnt out. I didn't use it, then burn it out.

The mechanics I spoke to certainly didn't accept it, and suggested I take action.

He says it burned out after the work was done.
You say it was already burned out.

Well, something sold has to be "Fit for the purpose" and the unit sounds like it wasn't, whether it was burned out beforehand or not.

Mind you, I don't think you have much chance of getting a good resolution now you've put it on the internet. You've burned your bridges in that respect, I reckon!

The bike runs with the old CDI. But its powervalve circuit does not work. (The reason the old CDI burnt out its powervalve circuit is the PV servo stopped working, which frys the PV circuit. Servo had been replaced and works)

The powervalve circuit on the new CDI works, but the ignition circuit is fried

There are two seperate circuits for the powervalve and the ignition.

Nothing wrong with the bike. It runs, and is still running, as it has been for years. albeit without a functioning powervalve.

That guy Graham Cornes is an absolute fucken cunt. I bought a rear disc for my old ZXR off the guy a while back and asked him to replace it or refund me preferably a refund because the disc was warped. So he goes and sends me another disc that is slightly less warped. I told him it was not acceptable and that in buying a brand new disc I expect it to perfectly true without needing any additional machining. Asked him to politely give me a refund and made several phone calls to him - all with no luck and with the end result of that arsehole hanging up on me and refusing to answer any calls from my number.

Yeah he's a fucken dick, it's not so much the fact that the goods were bad but his whole attitude towards it and his customer service. I wouldn't recommend dealing with the guy, btw he sells discs on trademe under the username gee10.

You can complain to the Commerce Commission and/or take it to the Disputes Tribunal. If this guy has a history of this sort of thing, the sooner people start having a go, the better.
