    Arrow Fxr or Kr?

My mate is looking at buying either a Fxr or a Kr which is better overall for a learner and restricted bike?

Either bike would be good, I know people who have learnt on FXRs and KR(R)s, both are lightweight quick agile bikes.

The biggest difference would be that the KR would have a bit more grunt because its a 2-stroke, rg100 can wheelie and stoppy on his and can pretty much keep up with my 250 off the line untill 80-90 ish (he races so absoluty kicks my arse on the corners). phoenixgtr puts up a good fight on his fxr too.

Ive never owned either so i have no idea about how available parts are for them.

Welcome to KB by the way.

I would vote FXR... most learners forget to look after 2-strokes, and they die quickish if you dont... besides... I've seen 160 on a FXR speedo, not sure how much it lied, alot I would imagine, but its still fast enough to learn on

If you're a complete learner, I think I would recommand fxr... I had one and it was great to learn on... not FULLY faired so a bit better than other 250s in a crash, etc... however I just got a zzr250 and my gf is actually finding that easier to learn on so, sit down and have a good think about it before you rush out and buy one.

I would say though fxr beats the zzr250's handling hands down and it's much easier to push around and to pick it up if you drop it... (hell I've had some really fun time picking up the zzr the one time I dropped it... I wouldn't see why other 250's would be any different story... how the hell do you guys pick up a bigger bike that you've dropped!!!! ) and fxr is much cheaper than the 250s. (well maybe with the exception of the gn250 but I hear they don't handle that great and isn't any faster than fxr....???_

Hell I don't know what point I'm trying to make... I suppose I'm just telling you what ever I know so you can make an informed decision... fxr is a great fun machine around corners but some people (like me) get bored with it pretty quick....

    anyway... never mind.

    oh and welcome

    Thumbs up

If it's the KRR (Water cooled) and it's been looked after you won't regret the extra maintenance, damn fast machines, but you WILL have to learn how to take care of it.

If you're looking at a KR150, dont bother, not much faster than the FXR, if at all.

Can't go wrong with the FXR, awesome learners bike.

For someone who has never owned a bike id say the fxr is a great place to start.
The kr is a bit more temperamental, doesnt really work unless you are in the power band, they need more servicing genarally but its simple stuff.
The kr is way faster, about 150% the power. Both great bikes for learning on.

    Welcome!
I faced the same question a few months ago and ended up getting a KR. Its my first bike and I think its an awesome learner. The only down sides I've noticed so far are the speedo being optimistic and the lawnmower noise (although I personally think it has a great scream at high revs). I think the newer KRs look better than the fxrs and having the extra power is nice so that you don't lose speed going uphill at motorway speeds plus some other reasons . From what I've heard a good service history is a must for the KR. Both bikes are great for a learner imo.

KR - KRR there's a difference, the KR is pathetic. What's %150 faster than slow anyway
