Up the Takas for a coffee and hot chocolates, down to Featherston and then back up and over and home via the Haywards. Good ride, but got a bit cold and windy on the homeward stretch.

Round the inlet and into the city. Round the bays and home to the valley. Nice to be riding in fine weather, if a little gusty. Weathers supposed to turn to the south tonight and get wet, so another great week of commuting!

Pretty much ditto. (very cold and windy on the way back).

I had business in Featherston. So rode right over. The guy I was visiting was on his way later to visit his Daughter in Tawa; so maybe I could have just stayed home...

Is it proper to do the biker wave at the gaggle at the tearooms when just riding past? I didn't, they (you) all looked a bit more "experienced" than me.

At Pauatuhuni (across from that Million dollar house for sale) there were about three cop cars stopping East-bound vehicles (including at least one yellow bike I saw).

What's the signal to oncomming riders to say "there's a cop down the road." ?

Apologies to the rider I passed on the way up. I always get that first corner past that first passing lane wrong. Hope you didn't think I was going to bin it.

A hardy group of two-fiddys (and one 150 2-smoker) had a great trip out East Auckland way and didn't even get rained on

Cheers to the pub who fired up the chip fryer early - don't think they were expecting a group of bikers to turn up on a day like this!

Nowhere today Weather was perfect too..... Hubby was off to Aussie for the week so we turned up at the airport several hours early just in case the sh!t had hit the fan with the overseas thing. And whaddya know....it was probably quieter than normal! No queues, no chaos, no plastic bag hand luggage. So annoying! (I guess it's a good thing too, just me being selfish with my good weather Sunday!) Ah well, came home and got the bike washed and polished so it can get rained on during the week!

    You must annoy them maybe??

well for me my riding consisted in wheel and stoppie practise on the push bike as the 150 is ready for racing next sat.

But then after getting all into it from the push biking i just had to do some on the 150...

Out i comes race numbers and all. My street has a really good surface for stoppies

    $20 of petrol later..

I had a good weekend riding. After a crap weather forecast for the whole weekend, the day dawned fine and sunny yesterday, so shot out for a quick blat round the Port Hills – Out to Sumner, up Evans Pass, along the Summit Rd, latched onto a couple of old Triumphs just before the Sign of the Kiwi, tore along with them along the rest of the Summit Rd until the one in front of me took a tumble He lost control on a cattle stop and went into the shingle on the side of the road, then into the ditch at around 70-80kph – not nice to see this happening in front of me. I stopped and ran back to the guy wondering what I going to have to deal with here, but all was well – relatively speaking. The guy got up OK and was just winded, the bike was OK – just minor damage, a few bent bits here and there that can be easily fixed, tank was fine. He was very lucky I think. Turned out he was part of a VMCC ride, and their sweep vehicle with trailer turned up 5 minutes later, so I left them to it. Carried on along the Summit Rd, Left onto Gebbies Pass, Left at the Wheatsheaf pub, back through Governors Bay, Cass Bay, etc to Lyttelton, through the tunnel and home. A quick 86km ride.

Today dawned fine and blue again … bloody hopeless weather forecasters Lemans rang up to go for a ride, so it was – Oh, OK then if I must

So, Lemans and SDU, and I went to Lyttleton via the tunnel, round the bays again in the opposite direction this time, right at the Wheatsheaf pub, over Gebbies Pass and on to Little River where we stopped for a coffee and a bite to eat, then it was over the shingle Port Levy Rd (complete with snow and ice over the top) to Port Levy, on to Diamond Harbour for another drink stop, then back round Governors Bay to Lyttelton, through the tunnel and home. 140km today, with mates and no incidents

What great weather we’ve had this weekend

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
