    New Toys

My stock chain on the 600 decided it was gonna give up the ghost after 28,000 kms(chain adjusted fine when leaved home, 50kms away, was 2" of movement with it), it was good timing i had already had a new chain and sprocket kit arriving from the USA.

After a bit of reseach i had also decided to redo my gearing at the same time, the best setup was -1 on the front sprocket, and +2 on the rear sprocket, to give me a ratio of 3.13 all on a 520 chain(for all those few grams of weight saving hahaha) Chain is an EK 520 xring gold chain, front and rear sprocket are Vortex.. Along with this, i decided i would get a black rear sprocket, to match nicely with the black frame. and powercoated rearsets. With a set of gold sprocket nuts, to blend nicely with the chain, which in turn matches the brake calpiers.

I would suggust anyone on a 600/750 do this to there bike it makes a huge different, my bike is so much more fun to ride now. At 100km/h in top my rpm have gone from 5,100 to 6,100. And with the change of sprockets, i will lose some of the very top end, but realy how often are you needing to do 250-260km/h, which the offset is much better acceleration.

With the change of gearing, a speedohealer was needed to be ordered, to correct the speedo error, which the new sprockets would make.I fitted the speedohealer under my rear seat cowl, above my air horns.

With programming the speedohealer, i use the speedohealer calcation website (http://www.speedohealer.com/eng/adjust.htm) I used the stock 5.5% speedo error from factory along with my gearing changes. to give me a figure, which i programmed in to the healer.

The next couple of days i was riding around at 55-60km/h on speedo, and keep leaving everyone for dead, and thinking my speedo must be still be out, borrowed the father in laws gps and mounting kit, and mounted it on the bike. I was suprised to see that around 50-60km/h my speedo was only out by about 0.9km/h via the gps. At 110km/h it is out by about 1.2km/h.

All up this sprocket & chain & speedohealer cost me little over $500 to land from the states Over all the chain kit, was simlar price to buying one here, but this way i got the change of gearing i wanted, better chain, and a very different looking sprocket.

    Enjoy

Nice one Cajun, you'll have no doubt noticed the sudden elevation of the front wheel in 1st gear if you give the throttle too much of a twist, just be extra careful until you get fully used to it matey. Good to see the Banana-bike is still going strong!

Yeah ride with a GPS or now for you an accurate speedo and you find all the cages going slow because they all have fast speedos.
    Cheers

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

Looks good man, was gonna change my gearing a bit when I got my new chain and sprockets done recently but decided not to when I was told it would mess up my speedo reading. But I think next time I will do it and get one of those speedo healer things you mentioned.
