BLINKERS ???? You gotta be kiddin me...

As I can absolutely not go on the road with my bike without some plonker in a tintop pulling out in front of me, or straight into me or any of the other dangerous acts that one can get away with by saying :"Sorry I did not see ye there matey, are you hurt ??" I came up with the following farty idea : I am off to the nearest bicycle shop tomorrow and get a couple of those fastblinking LED light .I'll get a white one and put it in the front and a red one in the back of my bike in the hope that I will be seen better, as fullbeam headlight is not good enough.
Any oppinion about the legality aspect of this ??
I mean, I rather look like a drongo with blinkers than spend some month in plaster.

If you need blinkers why not borrow them from the next cager who doesn't see you. All cagers seem to carry them. Some never take them off.

Grego... I've been thinking of something similiar.. though I dont know if there is any law against it.. but seem to recall? that there is a set number of lights a vechile can have, i.e. front lights, tail lights Someone more informed care to comment?

If the wankers don't see emergency flashers, do you REALLY think they'll see pissant little bike lights?
The only thing that'll wake them up is a burst of tracer rounds cracking past their heads.

..........tracer bullets past the head ???

why not IN the head, while you are at it . The cat seems pretty pissed off and keen, I don't think it would want to fire ""PAST the HEAD ""

Nah, apparently you can't do it, as LTNZ says flashing lights are "intended to dazzle" or some bullshit like that. But pushbikes can for some reason.

But I say just put them on, and if/when you are pulled over, the police I reckon won't ping you too hard for trying to be more visible. Mind you, they do have that quota.
    Go for it!

Flashing lights are "improved visibility" on pushbikes and "confusing and dangerous" on motorbikes according to the clinically inept and moronic arsewipes at the LTSA - possibly because some cager might be "confused" into thinking a motorcycle is a pushbike and actually be careful and respectful rather than assuming the stable single red light is in fact the taillights of a car 3km away that they just have to accelerate to catch up with...

Face it, the minute you do anything to improve your chances of survival, the cocks at LTSA bring out a law against it. They even outlawed the "running lights" in the front indicators as "dangerous and confusing" despite many manufacturers building them in at the factory to improve the bike's visibility on the road and the fact that "Streetbike Fun - How to Ride To Save Your Hide" actually recommends them as a great safety feature for "standing out" and "being noticed".

The irony is, you can cover your bike with blue or green neons (providing the actual light source is not visible from within 45 degrees of the front and rear) and so long as you say they are for "cosmetic" purposes, you're OK.

FFS don't admit that you've got them on there to increase your chances of survival or the fuckers will outlaw them on bikes!

The LTSA is intent on killing off all bikers - they hate us with a vengeance (as is evidenced by their actions). Because of that, I have come to hate them in return - as I hate anyone who directly takes action to threaten my life.

Writing to them and reasoning with them is no use - others here have tried it and got pre-digested pap-in-a-can responses that say "thank you for your letter but we know better than you" in as condescending a manner as possible.

It is the LTSA-decreed right of cagers to kill us off as much as they like - so long as they don't speed whilst doing so. Doing anything to prevent them from doing so will get you in trouble with the law.

I seen a chap last weekend and the words 'christmas tree lights' came to mind. Not only was he wearing a floro reflecter jacket, but he had a whole chain of non flashing red lights down his jacket front and down the back too. I suspect that he has encounted more then enough half blind and half asleep cage drivers to go that far. but it surely worked, i seen him coming half a mile down the road. Perhaps putting lights on yourself is a whole different rule book then putting them on your bike.

Jeez, if you're that worried about being on a bike, perhaps a cage is a better bet.

Not sure. It would be worth finding out.

The lights I've often wanted to afix to myself - with a suitablly accessible on/off switch - have been two red LEDs mounted to the frame of my glasses... so I can turn my head towards cagers that cut me off and give 'em a "stare" that'll haunt their dreams for months...
