    Laverda Daimante 668 info

Does anyone know anything about these bikes? This one is for sale in Sydney for only AUD$5,490. It's a 1997 model and one about 28,000km. I guess I trust a Kiwi opinion over an Aussie one.

friend of mine just picked one of those up, he got the carbon fibre fairing version he got his for a steal.

But Laverda floating arond bankruphy alot, so often parts are hard to fine, the brakes, suspension is top of line(bremo, wp) being a 668 parelle twin, over all simple engine design but those above two s ites are full of good info

Good looking though. It's not like you get a Ferrari for reliability

The Laverda in Wellington Motorcycles is pretty nice. If only I had the cash

There's a black "cafe racer" in AFC here in Palmerston North for around 10k.

I was thinking of getting that Diamante 668 to race in the Oz BEARS F3, but it apperars unanimous that they're unreliable. A site I visited in the UK claimed the electrics were shit, and no parts were available. Shame, cos they're meant to handle like a dream. But the last thing you want is an unreliable bike on the track. Great suggestion about installing a GS500 motor though.

Lack of knowlege is the problem... christ its Italian so yeah electrics can play up, but very easy to fix... handling is as mint as it gets, the weakest part on the 668 is the crank these are knowen tio break but having said that the 668 is the lesser powered bike as its the 750 that is knowen to have this prob.

I have spent a bit of time on a 750SF and its awesome and in 4 years it has not had any problems that couldnt be easly sorted.
    cheers DD

Dont think it was the crank that caused issues, Nice picks here - http://www.montydons-laverda.co.uk/index.html

Go to "MODELS" then "650/668 MODELS - WHAT WENT WRONG?"

Using araldite on the two peice dip stick was a wise move don't you think?

Agreed though. Lack of knowlege can be an issue Hense the reason for providing the above links.
