    900 Tridents?

Just a thought, but with all the hullabaloo about Triumphs, lately, has anyone got a Trident 900 or had one? Liked the look of them ,but they didn't hang around long in the model lists and were discontinued, I think, late 90's?

Mate has owned his for about 5 years & is very happy with it . Hasn't had much trouble with it either , go's well for an older bike of that weight & style .

My 885 tbird has 130,000km on it - blown it up a few times, but its always been worth fixing. The Triple is a great motor for a street bike.

Tbird is slightly different to the Tridents - they were a 'modular' construction and the Daytonas and Trophys of the era were the same bikes with different cams and coachwork or had a cyclinder grafted on for the 1200 versions.

Good bikes, somewhat dated compared to the 2007 range. Not particularly strong resale values. But a solid old truck if it's been well looked after.

    Coils are their achilles.

Blown it up?? Really??? (no seriously - I've often thought of buying one)

I thought they were pretty robust mechanically with a few issues with sprag clutches and the like?? I know a few people that have owned 900cc derivatives (like speed triples) and there have usually been a lot of little probs (and often expensive) nothing big worthy of the blown up description though...

Knocked 4 teeth off 4th gear drag racing a harley with nitrous up Hunter Street Newcastle. I missed the shift.

2 x Sprag clutches fixed under dealer's 2nd hand warranty. (a requirement in aus - or was.)

100,000 troooble free km till the coils started acting up - fixed them and it's been sweet as again since.
