my understanding of the 1% is it was a study done in the USA in the early 60s, 1% of people arnt cared about and dont care, or somthing on that line, it was in Hunter S Tompsons, Hells Angels.

    Yep I remember them.....

A mate who lived in New Lynn had a bit to do with them. I must ring him and jog the old memory.

BTW they sponsor Flame and Drew on the 'flying Ducatis'.

Another one worth a mention is 'the Gypsy Rogues' (Auckland). They had a bit of turf warfare going on with the Hells Angels back in the day (80s). My ex actually grew up in the gang house, his step-dad was the Presidente.
One night the house got shot up, his mother grabbed him and his sisters out of bed and they escaped out the back door, 3 little kids running for their lives down a dark street in their pjs in the wee hours of the morning... bugger that.

Am I the only one that finds the gang name "Mothers" amusing?

    Seriously...

I hear through the grapevine that 'up north' HOG members are being hassled by "1%" types for their HOG chapter rockers on the back of their jackets.

Apparently the '1%' types left school a little early and saw/see HOG as some other kind of patched-up rival gang that could threaten their 'territory'.

What a sorry-arsed bunch of cretinous loser toss-pot grey-matter-bereft twats...

Scummy, part of me agrees with you buuuuuuuuut there is another part of me that has absolutely NO sympathy for them.
As a Northern HOG member I have to say that I am DEAD against the big Chapter Rockers and I don’t have a problem with the wearers of them being hassled (so long as it doesn’t get nasty). There is a certain ‘etiquette’ to be observed and I am sick of these born-again-wanna-be-bikers swanning around like they have ‘been there done that’. It gets up my nose so I am not surprised that it irritates the patch wearing bikers that actually HAVE been there and done that!

To clarify, I am not supporting gang culture but I have been around long enough to know that there are just some things you don’t do. Personally, I don’t wear ANY patches or badges on my jacket and so don’t have any problems with patched MC/gang members. They know me, I’ve been riding in ‘the scene’ long enough to be known and to have earnt some grudging respect.

OK ( draws deep breath here, thinks calm thoughts)

What the fuck give ANYBODY the right to whinge about a group wearing an item on their jacket that they 'don't like the look of' even if it does not use ANY of the lettering/names as used by the whingers?

Especially when the 'whinging' consists of actual assaults because of a rocker on a jacket??

HOG ain't exactly interfering with THEIR (1% FUCKWITS) lifestyle, it's not like HOG is giving THEM a 'bad name' - and as it so happens there are a few 1%ers that are also HOG members.

And who made the rule you have to have 'been there done that' before you can swan around with a patch - born-again-wanna-be-biker or not???.

Sorry, I don't agree with your thoughts - and I don't agree with the HOG stance "Oooh, best we don't wear rockers 'cos the gangs don't like it'.
Fuck the gangs and what they like - I would love it if every single member of any bunch of bikers wore rockers, everybody.

    Rant over.

BTW...I DID say I wasn't supporting that culture.

But I am not ashamed to say that I am sick of stuck-up born agains.

We thought of making up a rocker using HOC with the same layout as the HOG emblem, as there seems to be a leniancy with what they get away with out there ! But being the Horrific Old Cunts we are, no-one has got around to doing it as yet !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

I had a recent convo with an ex-cop mate who used to be the gang liaison officer in South Auck.
According to him if you wanna have a patch and not offend the 1%rs then the simple rules are : pic/ emblem is fine and so is writing ABOVE the emblem but apparently not BELOW because that space is traditionally reserved for the actual chapter/ locality and therefore creates friction if you are seen to be challenging for turf.

F***king ridiculous... YEP! I think so too...

    True.

Sad that the very ones who want to 'ride free' and 'do their own thing' yadda, yadda are the ones that want to inflict their 'rules' on others.....even if the 'breaking' of their rules is doing them no harm.

BTW: I have no particular intention of putting a rocker on my jacket - but I'd like to think I COULD do it without a bunch of dicks giving me a beating for doing so.
