there are stories on this forum of guys who have been let off ridiculous speeds. come on everyone. one minute you're bitching cause the cops have zero tolerance, then next you're saying that they should write people up! talk about a bunch of fucking fence sitting bleaters
Absolutely not and the cop that dealt with her will have to stand behind his decision. Can't really comment without ALL the facts.Originally Posted by Deano
As a side note it has been noted in many law enforcement agencies around the world that the number of warnings issued for traffic matters has declined since more women have taken on the role as front line police officers. Eye lashes and big bouncy boobs have less of an influence in the outcomes I guess.
I'm OK with this story because it proves to me that the cops can use some discretion. If the cop decided that in the circumstances that no real harm was done then good on him.
I just wish more would use their thinking caps (or were allowed to) as one size doesn't fit all in relation to speed. That's what most of us harp on about. On a wide open road clear of any side features (trees or whatever) where you can see for kilometres and there is no chance of any dickheads inadvertently getting in your way then 100km/hr is not a sensible speed limit, whereas 150km/hr may well be. A case in point would be any of the multi-lane motorways in quiet times where there are no cross intersections.
At rush (or is that snail) hour a sensible speed limit may well be 80km/hr, but then that is usually self policing because of the crowd. I used to laugh every time I drove down Ngauranga Gorge and the multi-million dollar signs were reading 60 instead of 80 and I look down at the speedo and I'm doing 50 at best. Who needs a friggin speed limit most of the time anyway.
I'm sure you Jafas would love a 50 sign lit up or equivalent through spaghetti when you clutching along at about 0 - 2.5km/hr (sounds like an inflation rate huh!).
As for the chick if she was able to do 100 in a 50 zone it must have been quite a clear road and can't have been dangerous otherwise I am sure the cop would have been concerned no matter how good looking she is.

who really gives a rats? we should be thanking her for 1. keeping a HP car off the road for 30 minutes and 2. congratulating her for getting away with it.
AAAARRRRGGGHHHH
Zed you didn't tell us it took 30 minutes - she must have been in a Mini because they advertise they have enough room for that sort of thing.Originally Posted by marty

Well, acksherly, we DO have signs here like that. I dunno that your average D'Aucklander can read though, as the speed on the sign and that which people are travelling at seem to be quite different.Originally Posted by merv
Same with the information signs, saying "Lane closed 400m ahead" then "200m" and "100m"; I've seen lots of people just carry on in their lanes, ignore all the signs, then change lanes just as they're about to crash into the cones. F'ing blind AND stupid, y'know.
They don't actually need speed signs though. All it takes is something out of the ordinary, and everyone slows WAAAYY down to rubberneck. Sometimes they're like sheep that jump over an invisible obstacle on the path one after the other, and everyone slows down for some imaginary problem, then speeds up again. Strange herd behaviour....![]()
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
Warnings - never tell 'em the speed, it'l bite you in the bum when somebody else get pulled over at a similar speed (and most likely totally different circumstances) and knows about the other guy getting off for that speed, the verbal flack can be deafening and no explanation will make them see you point.(or so I have been told)
'Course you Jaffas don't have that worry as theres a good chance everybody is a stranger to everybody else :eyepoke:
Winding up drongos, foil hat wearers and over sensitive KBers for over 14,000 posts...........![]()

Well said Merv. Good to see discretion in play. This reinforces my belief that the most powerful force nature unleashed on the planet was curvy woman with cleavage. Shit it works on me everytime. Its got me thinking. Don't buy a radar detector, go for breast implants. Just not sure if a bloke with hairy boobs will work. I could get a lady shave as well? But then my riding gear wont fit, confused confused.
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
good on the chick for getting off, but it should be compulsory for the police to give out a ticket in this case i reckon!Originally Posted by marty

When I got stopped in Featherston (in the van) at 63km/hr the (female) cop told me that the "discretion" could only be used if the speed was within 10% of the limit. I might have talked my way out of it if the cop had been male, but as I posted here once before, females doing a job that was previously predominantly a male role (cops, customs officers, etc) seem to have a =n attitude problem that they need to be seen as being tougher/harder than a male would in the same circumstances. Spuds posting that warning have dropped since female cops became more common would tend to bear this out.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
