    Training around Auckland

The good news is me and the girlfreind will be living in auckland (i have a start date for job now) from the end of october onwards, and we'll both have bikes. I am quite happy riding in Nz.

She has a full licence here, she hasn't been riding long and will be riding in central auckland, so I am looking to sort some training for her so she can 'cross over' to the nz way of riding for her test etc (as she hasn't had her licence a year she has to do a test). And get her some more advanced training when she gets a bigger bike.

I also want to see if we can rent a bike around 250 / 400 for a week or so for her?

Any recommendations for any one good at training for doing this?

    Mike

RSV Mille: No madam, its an Aprilia, not a Harley. If it were a Harley, I would be pushing it !

    What part of auckland???

I have never meet a person that hates auckland who's lived in the north shore.... on the other hand, it seems that just about everyone else (who lives in other parts) seems to hate auckland....

Find a good area to live in and you'll love the place! Welcome!
I have deep pockets. It's just that it's a deep empty pocket...........

    Cool

PM Lou on here as he knows about renting out bikes etc...

There is also a place down the bottom of the city that hires out bikes as well... Keystone19's friend hired a 250 from them.

As to city riding... best just get on the bike and go for it...
Practise riding around the suburbs and work your way up to inner city riding...
Just remember the car/truck drivers are the morons and are as blind as.

Heading out of Auckland is some great roads to ride on as well to practise on.

Good to hear that you got the job.

With regards to some help on the road pm Riderskills - Phil is based in West Auckland, and will take your mate out, bike to bike communcation - giving tips and instructions before the ride, during the ride with great feedback after as well.

Read the NZ Road Code with special attention to Giving Way when turning left. It's the most f**ked up road rule in the world bar none. I got hit by a NZer coz they didn't understand it - what hope do we (immigrants) have if the locals can't cope with their own road rules?

Traffic's not as busy as Glasgow/Birmingham/London but the car drivers haven't worked out that traffic runs smoother on courtesy yet.

No one waves a thank you when you let them in!?!?

    Whinge over.

Congrats on making the move by the way.
