Rimutaka barrier accident - Friday morning 25 August

Hi - just got back from A+E after slamming in the barrier at the bottom of the Rimutaka's on the way to Featherstone. Bike's a bit scrapped but ankle and kneed took a battering. Managed to ride back to wellie but wanted to say a big thank you to the blue Honda sports bike rider who stopped to see if I was alright, and then followed me back in over the hill to the bottom of Ngauranga gorge.

    Cheers

Dude. That sucks. Hpe you get better soon.

What wa the cause? Just brain fade, or something on the road?

Thanks. I actually think I took the corner "poorly", wasn't looking at the exit more the apex and locked up when I realised it was to late. Back locked up and as a result went sideways in to the barrier.

Congratulations. You are the second Multistrada that I know of to have come to grief at the bottom of the Takas. Good news that you're OKish.

I noticed those barriers when I drove thru that road for the first time last summer, wishing I was on my bike, but wary of the barriers!!

Sorry to hear about this, and hope you heal quick!!

    Thumbs up

Good to hear you`re not too badly damaged! The takas are not too biker-friendly this week are they?

Glad you guys are both OK. I highly recommend you dont go up there today. I live in Newtown and its flooding in parts here. Been extremely heavy rain all this morning at times. Hows it up towards the Takas?

Steam - have you got one of those stress balls? It might be a good idea to use one when you can, to get your wrist and fingers working well again.
Might sound silly but theres a lot of strain on your wrists especially when riding in city traffic.
