At the Albany end of the Riverhead-Coatesville highway there is a set of 55kph corners that are quite fun to take at speed. I ride this road every day so as usual I had a fair pace on as I came around the first corner and lined up the second. I noticed someone who looked like Strat coming toward me so gave him a nod. Out of the corner of my eye I thought he might have been waving slightly more frantically than usual. I soon discovered why! A cattle truck had just dumped it's load on the next corner and the road was green and wet...
For the next 5km every corner had wet shit on it.
I was lucky that when I noticed the biker coming the other way I scrubbed off some speed before hitting the corner. No moments were had but it could have been different.
I quietly fumed about cattle trucks all the way through the ride. How dare one spoil my ride home!
Reaching the end of the Riverhead - Coatesville highway I spied the truck just in front. I followed it for a minute and managed to grab it's number plate and the company that owned the truck.
On arrival home I rang the company and asked why it was that this guy had felt it necessary to empty his truck when he was only 10km from his base in Silverdale. The guy I spoke to muttered something about where else do they dump it, yes the trucks do have holding tanks, it had been raining and the bottom of the truck must have been wet etc etc etc...
The phone call achieved nothing but at least I tried...
