Was in a few of those roads on the weekend. I like how they now put a 70 sign followed closely by a 50. Because all the morons doing 80 can't see a 50 sign and slow down in time, so now we gotta all slow down really slow. Baby steps for baby-brained public.

    I'll volunteer to help stickering....

Errr perhaps you've mis understood me. I was saying that just because some people like to do 80, doesn't mean that the speed limit should be brought down to 80 so everyone has to do that speed. On a long straight piece of road an 80km/h limit it is ridiculous.

Didn't think i'd have much luck tracking down Hone Heke, perhaps i'll have to go with Swoop's printers idea.

Maybe someone else had the same nasty idea as me to drill some holes in those stockpiled pipes on the side of the road and actually went and did it. Would explain the reason it is taking them so damn long to get the pipes in the ground. I'm hoping that they are gonna go and reseal the whole road soon, but I'm not counting on it. The bright sparks working there also thought it a brilliant idea to brush all the excess loose seal onto the goddamn flush median before my road.

I think of 80K zones as a no go for fun riding. Unless its a seriously twisty road is pretty dull. And riding slowly to look at the scenery is arguably more dangerous than alert riding at 120Kph.
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..

All depends really. My bike can't do 120km/hr and once I get over 85 it's time for me to literally put my chin on the tank in order to maintain speed by reducing wind resistance, so in that respect, 80 is a safer speed since I've not compromised my riding position and thus ability to safely handle it.

If I had the opportunity to ride a much more powerful bike in a 100km/hr zone, then I might view it differently because running those bikes at 80km/hr wouldn't even be touching their potential let alone getting close to stressing it.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.
