    6R - Here I come...

    Right,

I've been reading all your posts with awe and respect, especially alot of the antics that you guys n gals (and you all know who you are) get up to in the weekends and your days off, and I can't wait to join in all your fun but I'm not quite there yet.

I've booked in for my restricted test next Monday (18th) and I'm like a kid 3 days out from Christmas. I was hoping to go into the test a little prepared and was wanting to know if anyone in the Kapiti area has done any of the practical tests lately.

I remember from years ago, sitting the restricted test for the cage and remember heading around the block up past Paraparaumu primary school but from there, the ole memory fails me.

Anyone able to shed some light??

I was then going to do a DD course and then have my full mid December...yay.

    Thanks all,

    Nath

    Hey thanks,

I've been pretty cautious for now. So not much to tell. Ridden over Paekak Hill and can't wait till it's open again.

    Passed..

I was waiting in at the AA for the tester to turn up and I heard one of the ladies behind the counter comment about "some bloke driving past just stopped in the middle of the road, got out of his car, walked over to that bike there and then jumpped back into his car..."

I though nothing of it. The tester turned up. I handed over my license and he said, "show me your bike."

We went outside, and straight away I saw that the sidestand & neutral lights were ON!!! Fek, I took the key out without turning it off first. The bike had been parked up for about 20mins with the headlight on.

The tester told me to turn on the indicatiors but they didn't / wouldn't work. Test.

I told the guy that I may have flattened the battery, so I tried to start the bike.....

Fired up straight away. Phew. Did the rest of the lights, and got to the headlight, but it wasn't working. Turns out that the guy that stopped his car, walked over to my turned off the headlight. Give that man a beer.

Test went real smooth. He asked if I knew my way around town, then told me where to ride & then park up for the next set of instructions. Real nice guy.

We got back to the carpark and he came over and told me to rip off the "L" Plate cause I had passed. Went on to say that he had wished that all the bike tests were as smooth as mine. Said that he had one on Saturday and everytime the guy went to put his foot down at a Giveway or Stop sign the bike nearly fell on him.

If anyone wants to know the course then PM me and I'll let you know. Off now to book in for a DDC and do all this again in 3 months time.

    Congrats mate, well done.

Just remember; losing your L plates does not make a Rossi overnight.
Keep your head and wits about you. Sounds like you should be ok, just concerned for your safety. Have fun.

do you have any tips or technicalities you can pass on man? when you stop do you put your left foot down only or both feet down at the same time? also, are there still DD courses you can take to cut down the wait time. Last I heard they were scrapped but hope not

EDIT: I SEARCHED AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS!!, THANKS

When you check your brake lights before the test check it at the rear and front brake. I checked only the rear and sometime between doing a warrant 6 weeks ago and the test - I estimate 1 hour before the test- the front brake lever switch kicked the bucket.
Cost me 20 bucks and 5 minutes but 5 minutes too late.
no one to blame but myself I suppose. Very pissed off though
