Steam out exhaust

Let my mate ride my CBR400 up the road today and noticed when he first started what looked like steam coming out the exaust. i had previously been riding for about a hour so should have been plenty warm.

is this usual or somthing more sinister?

It's okay as long as it is just steam... If it was oil I would have been more worried!!!
