    I would concur though from his description it is definately an ignition problem, but I'm thinking more starter, earth, battery, fuse, ignition switch.

    Here is a link to an excellent electrical fault finding page. Although this is mainly for Suzuki GS models*, much of it can be used for general fault finding - there are only so many ways to generate and store electricty on bikes, after all http://www.thegsresources.com/garage/gs_statorfault.htm

    *following the decline of the British motorcycle industry, it fell to Suzuki, with the GS models, to pick up the baton from where Joe Lucas, Prince of Darkness, let it fall.
    it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

    Not that surprising being you would have been on the balls of your feet pushing that monster uphill.... especially if you were wearing bike boots.
