    HOW MUCH TIME?????

been having a very bad month........first the bike skid and the 2 weeks to fix the panel and now some Asian's hit my car just a day before i wanted to take it to the car fair....prob a good thing in a way since its been raining all day.....anyways coming to the point.........as some of you know the bikes been at mt eden mcycle...now that i got the fairings i went there to get it fitted....the mechanic there is not willing to put them at all......then i said ill take the bike as is and get it fixed through kerry whose installing the alarm newas....and this guuys like you have to make a few payments........apparently they had done an insurance quote so thats 1.5 hrs labour and stripping the front side panels and the front which is another 1.5 hrs labour....so now i need to pay for 3 hrs labour.........does anyone think this is justified?????and are we supposed to get charged for an insurance quote????earlier the mechanic at eden sed he wud install an alarm that wud cost me 8 hrs of labour(between 320-500)....while kerrys doing it for $120....
this whole set up is just driving me crazy and making me wonder whether buying a bike was a good option.........if anyone can help please let me know....im already down 700$ just fixing the fairing and the stickers.......cheers.and sorry for the long thread

My opinion would be that the stripping labour is justified, but unless they said otherwise the quote labour shouldn't be your problem.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

why are they not willing to put on the panels in the 1st place? an how much time did they actually spend on your bike?

i really dont know....no regulation...the guy said stripping would take 45 mins and now the have doubled the time.........and the guy tells me he will call me and tell me if he has the time to put the fairings back on...so i was like ill take the fairings and get it fitted elsewhere...and then he goes the fairings are at some other mechanics house.......i thot this mechanic is good but slowly i realise they just tryin to rip me off.......the only reason i had gone to him was through someone's reference when i didnt know abt this site as well.....

nup it costs money, but if you go through with the insurance, that quote is payed by the insurance company...

1.5 hours sounds ok, take off the fairings and check the bike over...
See Robert Taylor for any Ohlins requirements www.northwest.co.nz

What TS said but I don't get this thread. If you have claimed insurance, and I am sure I have miss read this thread, but if you have the insurance company fixing the bike just walk away from it and tell them to get it fixed and on the road ASAP. When you go to pick the bike up look it over and make sure it is good. Ride it before you sign it off. If you are not happy send it back. Call the insurance person you are dealing with every day till it is done and every hour if it is taking to long. Feck we spend a lot of bling on insurance and they should front up and get it done. Why have a dog and bark???????? I am no mechanic but I can get the plastics off in half an hour. I have talked to a few people in business in the last week and most have commented on how much slower things are. Money is not as easy to part from it's owners at the moment. A hint of things to come? Maybe aye.

cunts like you should not ride bikes mate...try a wheelbarrow..1 hr flat rate for insurance quotes, half hr for parts dept (actually should be 1hr) stripping gsxr600 fairing 1 and half hrs is fair. You brought panels to me @ 12.05 on saturday afternoon ,i was alone on duty .i said if i have da time i'll fit it and that i'll call you. you called me back thrice and i got pissed off. in all honesty i would have stayed late (which most people out there know i go that extra mile)to finish your job .I had 2 sets of pilots and an exhaust system to fit at the time. Best thing is sell your bike-you are a PROBLEM 2 YOURSELF.RICKY

Yeah, word does get around -

Most people on here will know ricky as one of the best mechanics in auckland, if not the best. Im sure alot of people here could vouch for that.
He's helped me out more than i can say, and has always done his best, and stayed behind to put the hard yards in.

Weather it be me crashing my cbr250 and him fixing it at short notice , or helping me when some dick wrote my 02 GSXR 600 off by backing into it with a truck.

Or me going to his house late at night for advice, and finding him in the garage helping someone else out who had had some problems, free of charge.

Being passionate about your job is something you rarely find these days, and it would suck when someone slaggs you off when you do your best to help them. Especially when you put the effort in that he does.

    I agree with ricky.
