Thanks for That Craigs288. Im a bit more layed back these days so sounds like a good option for me, almost everyone who has had a GS says good things about them as well. I guess an 11 hour ride was a great introduction and seems to me, could be wrong, but Bikes generally seemed more competativley priced down the line. A local shop has a 04 minter low K example (<3000Ks) for a snip less than 9K, call me a monkeys uncle but wasnt that only a grand off the new price?

They sold in NZ for a variety of prices when new. I believe that the first ones were arond $13000, but then the NZ dollar strengthened and the price dropped to $11000. At the end of the run they were specialled at $9999 in standard form, or $10,999 with some extras such as aftermarket cans.
    Time to ride

They don't go faster than the speedo speed (180kph) in
    First - 100kph+-
    Second - 146kph
    but third does - 200
    forth ??
    fifth ??

Was told they are supposed to top out at 240 cos they will not pull the rev limiter in top so that would be in 4th. But wot would I know.
I have just found out that they have removed the word gullible from the dictionary

Check out this site http://www.suzukicycles.org/GS-series/GS1200SS.shtml - they look soooo much hornier in red/black.

    Cheaper down south

I bought mine off the first New Zealand (in chch) owner at 1100kms on the clock for $7500. He reckoned it aggravated his tennis elbow and was a bit noisy. I think he was replacing it with a VN2000.

There were also some other big bikes ( cb1300, gsx1400 ) on trade me in the same area for about 2k less than the Auckland prices for the same thing.
Henderson motorcycles have got one exactly like mine with 10k on the clock and want $9995 for it. I've only just got 5k on the clock so I'm still grinning.

Only difference is the bandit type pipe and muffler after the collector. I reckon the megaphone looks cool, it's just on a wanky angle. Nothing a gas set and a welder can't fix. Insurance is a bitch tho.

GSXR1100 cams carbs etc does the trick if its to sluggish. A mate had one and did that...132 rwhp - still to slow so he bought a ZX12R...

    Looks like I was lucky

I picked mine up for $6,500 with only 6K on the clock.

It is mint ands other than the top end which will be sorted it is not too sluggish.

Not as fast as my old GSXR1100 but still quick enough

And thanks for the advice - looks like when they tried to remove the speed limiter they only snipped the wire and didin't put in a resistor

Found out that it already had the speed restriction removed it looks like I was fooled by the fact that the speedo does not go over 180

So what revs have you seen in top gear (on a closed road of course)?
    Time to ride
