From one of our small local papers, nearly full page coverage including 3 good colour pics.. Franklin Life August 30 2006.
article reads.
Pukekohe Motor Cycle club hosted the first round of the 2006 Ssaang Yong NZ Motocross championship, held at the Mercer sand track, last Saturday and Sunday , august 26 & 27.
Local hero, Katherine Prumm from Bombay, atteneded this local round with a huge field of competitors.
Katherine recently claimed the womans world champion title in Finland earlier this month. Katherine competed in the womens section of the event as well as racing in the National 125cc class, which includes men and women.
Spectators flocked in by the car load and lined the hills and jumps to catch the adrenalin filled action !
As well as NZ's top riders, here locally to race for the championship, Australian competitors crossed the Tasman to challange our finest.
The overseas team included Ashela Bates, kirsty Gillespie and Jemma Wilson,
who all took part in the womens races, while Tony Dorran challenged in the Nats 125cc class.
Katherine had an extremely good day on saturday with a qualifing time of 1.57sec. Her fist race on Sunday saw her leave the starting line to battle a huge feild for the the first corner in the womens race.
Katherine gained a good start and led by mere feet into the first corner, only to open up a huge gap by the end of the race.
during the 125 cc race a huge pile up at the bottom of the first jump, hooked up the tail end riders of the field.
some riders struggled to re start and get on their way, but luckily, no one was hurt. Throughout the programme each class was full of dirt flying action with a few tangle ups on corners to make things intersting.
The event was the first round of a four round championship, which will be hsoted at four different venues spread over Mercer, Hawkes bay, New plymouth and Timaru.
There is also a huge list of results printed and 3 good colour pics, will try to get the pics scanned and posted up later.

"Kiwi Biker, still a great place despite the mods "
"Would crawl over broken glass before owning Suzuki"
The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
my own fault really.
