    Bad driver? Me? Naah!

From a previous thread, but closer to home than a lot of us think.
I used to think I was OK, but,as so often the case, the more I learned, the more I realised that I didnt know !
In my defence, at least I recognise the situation, have a passion for driving/riding (taught myself to drive a tractor at 11, always followed motorsport, have raced and rallied), and am continually attempting to improve my bad habits - these days, thanks to the gummint - my attitude to traffic regulations!
Unlike most of the other road users!
It takes more than the ability to ride/drive fast, to become a good driver!

I think a lot of people confuse the two,ie :if I can from point A to point B in such and such a time I must be a good driver/rider, when the reality probably is you're a dangerous lunatic that shouldn't be allowed to be in charge of a wheelbarrow.

I don't consider myself anything better than average, but when I make a mistake I take a bit of time to work out why and what it was that lead me to making it and try to make sure I won't do it again.

I'll admit, I was shit when I started riding, reflecting on some close calls and mistakes. Ever since I canned my bike at a roundabout I've been much more aware of my innabilites, so I guess it was a wake up call, could have done without the marks on my knee though.

I still like to think I'm above average.
This is talking about Bikes, cars, trucks,Funny thing is that still don't make me any good really because I also reckon the average just ain't that good anyway.Maybe the day I think I,m good will be the day I prang it for real good.So I think I'll just stick with ever so slightly above average.

I have raced my car and learnt to drive many different vehicles and can handle them very well. But when a person whose been in my car says damn your a good driver i say no im not cus i figure if i get an ego about being a good driver then ill fuck it up because ill be up myself, so i might be good but in my books im nothing special.

Yep i say that about my riding and driving..... People say im a good driver because they feel "safe" even though im driving fast

I still consider the best driver/rider to be able to drive/ride fast, yet controlled, and have good road reading skills as well as making everything look easy.....
