    Blah 1st Coro Loop ride...ever

Well we got up early (for me anyway) yesterday morning and cruised down to Auckland so Annette could test ride a Buell at AMPS.
Freck'n cool bike man!! Wicked little 1200cc toy it was...oh and yeah it comes in black too, very important.
We'll just see how the next month or so goes and we might just have to have one
Ok...so now it's midday and we're in Latte-land...what to do?
Neither of us have touched/seen snow in YEARS to thought why not, lets go to Taupo and take it from there. Sadly whilst riding down the motorway the weather turned crappy but as we'd come down we thought we may as well head for Tauraga maybe.
Weather got worst...next closest buzz? Tairua for the night.
Neither of us have ever done the Coro Loop before and have heard so much about it from y'all. Naturally we thought ya must all be high or something but after now sampling I gotta say...dang freck'n FAST road that be uhuh!!
I mean dang...FAST sweepers,FAST corners which made for a decent game of 2x (the posted limit...gimmie a break, twas my first ride!)
Absolutely loved the blast from Tairua through to Whitianga but beyond and over was freck'n fine!
The last time I went over the top of the Coro it was gravel and I was driving a RX2 ...ok ok,showing my age
I txt Eddy(KB's Gixxer) and him and Affman met us at the turnoff to Miranda on the way back this morning. They kindly showed us an alternate route home through some pretty cool roads! Cheers guys....appreciated longtime!!
Will I/we go back? Fark yes,but next time I'd be keen on going with someone that knows the roads well and can twist it fairly hardish
Just a couple of non-descript pic's attached too

I still reckon the Coro loop has got to be the bext motorcycling road in this here country. Those roads were made for motorbikes. Everything is there. You got some nice longish straights, high speed sweepers, loverly tight twisty bits, oh yeah, plenty of those and the best bit of all from Whitianga, over the hill to Coro.

The other side from Coro to Thames is ok but now there are so many small towns and 70kmh and 50kmh areas that stuffs it a bit, so you know what? Don't go that way. Go back over the hill and back the same way so you get to do all those best bits again and it only adds another 20 minutes to your ride.

    Double the fun eh??

I think I've done around 13 Coro Loops this year, maybe more. Then coming back through Miranda, up the coast through Orere Point and Kawakawa Bay. Drool. Those are my favourite local roads
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

Glad you finally got to ride the notorious CoroGP, come down in summer and do the whole Loop in one day, including riding down thru to Whangamata and Waihi which is twisties galore and up there with some of your Norfland roads!

So ya might be buying a Harley huh, oops sory, Buell. Will that mean you'll have 4 bikes in your house or will the SV be going?

Yep! The road through there must have some of the tightest corners around, too. Bit of a pain in Summer holidays as the traffic is really bad and even on a bike you can be held up a lot. Haven't been through that stretch for a few years, (Just realised, nearly ten years! ) North of Whangamata is my favourite bit on that loop!

The whole peninsula is a blast! Though I need to get a bit fitter as the last time I did the Coro loop I was ready for the easy bit back down the coast from Coromandel!
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!

Have yet to try the Whangamata roads but keen as hell to have a crack at them. Enjoyed the Peninsula but coming down from Coromandal township sort of sucked due to the little townships and crappy road conditions at the time.
Maybe just looping back over and around would be the way cause the rest of those roads were bloody fun
