The AA are known as a de facto mouthpiece for the Police/LTNZ anyway. This is another example. They well know that the aged membership will agree with anything that's strong on law and order. It's only when they get pinged that they complain.
We must be the only country without a motorists lobby group.

Bet they all said yes to question 2' lowing the speed from 50 k's to 40.

Maybe BRONZ needs to come up with an alternitive survey.

Could you please clarify what issue of the AA Mag this is out of. And what method members were given to respond. My wife gets their mag and I'd like to respond...
It is all the same load of bollics that was being peddled by those "safety seminars" around the country.

I would tend to like red-light cameras as two of my worst moments on the roads came from red-light runners. I don't know if they would change the behaviour much but I don't think they would hurt.

The give-way rule is another interesting one. I think we need to loosen it up a little, e.g. a free left turn on a red-light if the way is clear.

If all the speed limits were reduced by 10km/h, would it actually change anybody's riding habits?
If they dropped the 50 to 40, then you could get a 28day mandatory doing 80km/h. From a standstill, that's only a couple of seconds in first gear.
No more fast takeoffs from the traffic lights.
I would imagine that most people would continue to ride to the conditions and just keep a more vigilant eye out for the men in blue that want to tax you for the government slush fund. If everyone rode/drove sensibly for a couple of weeks, how would they cope with the lack of income?
And I seriously doubt it would have any measureable effect on the road toll, which must be what they are going to sell the idea with.
