    Rider really down

Heard on the radio tonight that the Auckland police are looking for a driver (car) that was involved in an accident with a motorcyclist, who is now dead. The comment was that the M/C clipped the car and . . . . . There were two cars involved in the accident and the driver they are looking for did not cause the accident.

Anyone know who it was, happened about 6 am this morning.

    Motorcyclist's name released

South Auckland police have released the name of the motorcyclist killed in a fatal accident in Manurewa this morning.

    He was 58-year-old Donald Snell.

Detective Sergeant Wayne Lendrum says police are still trying to find the driver of a car that was also involved in the crash.

He says obviously somebody uses Browns Road in Manurewa at 6.30, possibly to go to work.

And he says they might not even have realised they hit someone.

I always cringe when ever you hear of a death involving a motorcylist ... always pray its not someone you know.

A motorcyclist's death is never a good thing. Hope its not one of the fold.

Yeah, I heard this by chance on the radio yesterday morning. I was at home fixing a friggin leaking pipe in the ceiling (third one this year! ) and happened to have the radio on, as there were no CDs in the car on my way to the hardware shop.

A sad reminder of our vulnerability on bikes, that made me determined to be careful when I (eventually) rode to work. Must've forgotten by then, as the nice weather and dry roads flipped on the HOON button. Nice wheelies though...

Yeah, it's sad alright, as the report kinda made it sound like it was the second car hitting him after he went down that killed him.

When I die, I hope it's on my bike and not some disease or summat...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I think you mean "When I die, I hope it will be when I was *very recently* on my bike".

Personally I'd rather take any other way to die than to die in a motorcycle accident. The last thing I want, would be to have people remember me as "that nutter who had it comming"...

There was a similar one a few years ago on the Northern Motorway,a girl on a Sportster got clipped then run over by the car behind. She lived just down the road and I saw her ride everyday and walked past my shop in the mornings to get milk - if I hadda known it was her last day on earth I'd of asked for a ride on her bike....
