Well, I tried to join you all, but by 7pm I hadn't got a txt (phoenix is not my friend any more ;-) so I decided I'd just go to the top of the takas and back home. I got a bit worried riding through the hutt when I couldn't actually see the takas because of the clouds, but I continued anyway. It turned out to be dry (apart from a line of sheep shit) all the way to the top, and I was having fun, so I carried on down the other side (some damp spots, but no rain). I meant to turn around at the bottom, but once there I thought I might as well blat out to the Tin Hut just in case you were all there... there was nobody there and in fact the lights were off! So, back over the three hills and I got home about 9pm.
A warning to anyone doing the Paekak hill: there are some (well sign posted; 30km/h) bits of new seal at the bottom on the Pautahanui side, with lots of loose gravel atm - take care.

OI Alex, remember it could be the other side too - also could even be something not related at all but just shorting out (probably is what we think though) - i know diddly squat about bike electrics

Well, did you guys go anywhere and do anything last evening?

Rain checks? Were you out riding in the same city as me? Did the earth move where you were? Why do stars suddenly appear?

Ahhh, the rain checks!
Careful what you say about Karen Carpenter. At least she would have been a cheap date...

Just wanted to say thanks for a good ride-out last night - as a noob it was my first group ride and everybody was really friendly and chatty. The pace was just right too (only got overtaken by one 250!), and I learned alot from following some of the guy's lines- the guy with his daughter on the back was a pretty good guide as to the severity of the next corner too!
Thanks Rich for the invite, will defintley come along to some other rides too![]()

Better to keep quiet and have people think you're stupid than open your mouth and prove it!
