Shaun ... you're not... possibly ...coming down this way at all... for a suspension clinic...? Got a nice group ride on the 1st of October.

now i'm truely versed in the art of suspenders... i can sort you welly crew out!

Got a set of new rubber today from Cycletreads.. man what a HARD decscion.. i went with the Pilot Powers in mind, however as soon as i got there chatting with Budgie i was almost gonna get the 208 rr's again. They're wicked although not so mileage friendly.

so i ummed and ahhhed about the Pilot Powers, the 208rr's the 208 Qualifiers and the m3's and said.. what the heck.. lets try the tyre everyones ravin about! i succumbed to the Pilots

    So the bike got jacked up and Budgie starts tinkering.. You need new front pads, knackered and worn uneven; oh and your suspensions too soft.. so an hour later, some major tinkering and $630 lighter i ride out;

Now first impressions .. my steering damper must be cranked right up as this is as stiff as a board to steer, hard to counter steer slow to drop into a lean but does go over smoothly, they don't dive in like the 208's.. So i check.. nup, the damper is set right!!! Is this due to the profile of the Pilots or the hardened suspension??

a good run out tomorrow will tell, bed my brakes in and scrub the tryres

    Any one wanna buy a 2005 cbr600rr?

That's unusual Boomer. Shaun screwed your rear preload up heaps as it was way to soft and they reckon it still was??

Now, I can only say, check your tyre pressures. The guys in the tyre shops are generally very good but you need your own quality gauge and check them when they are cold in the morning. Others will be along shortly to tell you the pressures you need on your bike but I reckon 37-38 rear and 35-36 front. It sounds like they may be on the soft side if your steering is tight.

Also, I take it your front wheel, fork and bars go from side to side easily when you have the front wheel off the ground? If not you may have a kanckered steering head bearing or it's up too tight.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

Weird huh! Shaun told me to set them at 29 & 31 which i did on the 208's and she was ok on teh coro run; she did still feel a little squashy ( is that descriptive enough???) like a marsh maloow even

The shop set the pilots at 36/38 i think. I'll check the pressures tomorrow and check teh steering as you suggest Paul

    Cheers Paul !

i left Cycletreads today and went across to holeshot and stared at the K6 thou for half an hour, having major discussions with myself as to wether to trade in THERE AND THEN and the repocussions from the ministry of finance when i got home!

Sure enough my already shriveled knackers shrank even more and i walked out VERY disappointed with myself!

im keen to swap mate oh and i had a few cracks at my 6inch wheelies on the way home and i saw a crest and thought .. oooh give it a crack on there..... damn near shat ma pants when the front came up 3 foot .. hahhahahahahhah maybe im destined to walk

Check your tyres are 36 front and 38 rear. When they put my new tyres on they put 42 or somethin in the rear, I soon sorted that.
Your right! although shaun was not as daft as he looks he wrote my settings down ( i hope ) !

a phone call to Shaun should sort it

Not coming over to WA are you?
Got a ZX9R thats pretty good most of the time, except it tends to push wide on high speed sweepers - and with the gravel verges at the edge of the seal over here, it can get a little too sphincter clenching
    at times!

wind on more rear preload....a couple of turns....then test.....then a couple more then test....see if it feels better

running wide is usually because your rear is squating to much while powering out or corners....a lil more low speed compression wouldn't hurt either...

Dude, you got my full attention FREE of Charge, and then have a tire fitter fuck with the set up, and now you do not like the way it handles

You u r screwed now man, I do not keep notes on bikes I set up for the road for people, as I do not expect them to go away and change things with out writing it down them self first!

1st time was FOC, next time, if you want me to do it again, it will definately cost you, as this is my buisness, you know, bread and butter on the table and all that shit

After finding out just how soft my rear suspension is I know I'll hav to come se you. I think I'll get a new shock and bring it or will you have something for me? If I do get one where should I go and how should I be paying (approx.)

The preload is about 2 or 3 clicks away from the top and it's still squishy.

I saw Shaun writing shit down, but didn't expect that he'd keep it.

If I'd done a similar thing as you, I'd still gladly take his services in exchange for $$$...but I didn't so I'll save my money for an Ohlins shock

hahhahaha; teh funny thing is i'm not that bright at the best of times, so when matey boy at cycletreads jumps on in with boots and all i didn't know what to say other than... 'Shaun Harris has just done all that for me mate!"

before i know it hes wound it down, back up and there ya go! Oh well; i feel like a right kunt as it is.

i gotta get a couple of things of ma chest tho..

    • I respect Shauns gone out of his way and he probably feels like i've wasted his time, for that i apologise!
    • i did buy Shaun a bottle of half decent whiskey for his troubles and rode all the way to fukin never never land.. so it wasn't exactly free
    • I'm not the most capable of riders, only been riding a year and half so i wouldn't know good from bad in all honesty when it comes to hows the bike 'feeling'.. other than if and when its fucked! ( technically speaking )
    • The bike is heavier now, but i'm guessing its the tyres ( or profile ) of teh new tyre however im still as fast/slow as i was; i just adjust my style and get use to the feel.
    • i'm still alive and kicking and enjoying the bike and more likely than not, Shaun will get some $$$ from me for a shock ( if he's not too pissed to take ma money.. we know the strawberry blondes have a firey temper huh )

Hey, i'll hold ma hand up, i'm a kunt, a daft kunt and i apologise Shaun, i hope i havent offended you and by no means ANYONE take this as me not liking the work he did. fuck it.. im gonna go have a wank
