    Big Ups for Vero

Well guys I got my claim posted to Vero on Monday afternoon, and it arrived with the claims officer at 10.30 yesterday.

I got a phone call yesterday to say the claim had been settled, less 10% depreciation on my gear, and $150 excess. Money in the bank tonight.

So, I can't really say enough nice things about Vero today. The service has been astoundingly good - helpful all the way.

    A very happy customer.

Sent an email off to Australia this morning. Guess what's coming over the water in the next few days?

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Yeah, yeah, obviously you went with the second-hand FZR1000 forks from Aussie, but I was wondering whether you were looking for a new suit. Tangent.

I obviously need more coffee before I ramp up to a semi-articulate state.

Excellent news mate. Did you remember to claim for the 40 year old Glenmorangie you just happened to be carrying??

I would have loved to have gotten a nice leather suit, but as I ride daily it's just not practical. Leather in the rain is a bitch, and as I work with rare and valuable heritage materials its a bit off-putting to a curator to have the smell of wet leather drying off lying around a rare book worth a couple of million or so.

Actually I got an even better deal from Metro Motorcycle Wreckers in Sydney, Australia. A straight good condition set of FZR1000 forks for AUD$400. Couldn't turn that one down.

So they are coming over asap. I got a 2nd hand rotor from an XJ1200 off trademe for $40 (choice!) and the triples are getting straightened by Damon @ Cycleworks on Saturday.

So the only thing I haven't got the bucks for is a new set of riding pants. My Dririder pants were mildly scuffed in the crash and I can definitely make do with them until I can save for some more. My watch has been fixed ($260!) and my boots too, so I will have the bucks to get a new helmet, jacket and gloves in the next week.

I will scrape together the money for a new indicator on payday next week and hopefully will be back on the road in less than a fortnight!

The new windscreen and new mirror may have to wait until next payday or when the genesis cheque comes in (grovel and beg to wife coming up).

Apart from that, we're all go!

Anyone know if I can be busted for riding without the right hand side mirror?

That would have been nice. But actually I'm an Islay Malt fan.

Those highland malts are a bit sharp. Not enough of the wet dog fur taste to them...

OOOO Mee too!! Jura's a fave, and I like Speyside single malts too. They've got that peaty softness of the Islay malts, without the seaweed tang.

    I knew you had taste.

Ahhh. Excellent. Just what I wanted to hear, having just changed to Vero for the first time this year.

Glad to hear you're getting the bike sorted.
